What miniatures do you use for VAS?

I also use Navwar 1:3000, with a small number of Skytrex 1:3000. In future I may get more Skytrex/Davco though, because the ordering system for the Navwar website is archaic for international orders.

What miniatures do you use for VAS?

I have had a go at a points system for VAS (WWII basic version) and also a "Modern VAS" version. There is no facility to upload files here, so I am posting them to the FreeWargame Rules blog. They are both Word files. happy sailing Scott Elaurant

    Dead

I don't have an electronic camera but a few of us are about to start playing AOD here in Adelaide. Ships bought, based, undercoated in stylish black and a handful even painted :)

    VAS Cold War/Modern Variant

Yes I have finished a draft with Cold war and modern fleets for US, UK, USSR and (Cold War only) Argentina. It has been play tested a few times and I have made a revised version. I haven't had any other feedback from anyone else.

    AOD-- US fleet list

May I say that my copy of AOD just arrived a few days ago and I really like it :) There are a few little refinements over VAS that make it an even better game. The revised turning, scouting rules and clarified turn sequence is very good. I am sorely tempted to try the turn sequence for WWII...

    VAS Cold War/Modern Variant

Good questions thanks. Aircraft are meant to be flights of 2 (recon) to 4 (fighter/attack) planes. AAMs are include in dogfighting Kirov is a typo; should just be 5 AD Aircraft are included in the cost of carriers; other costs are used for land based air.

    VAS Cold War/Modern Variant

I should say that I have finished my update and this vesion is also available for playtest to those interested. Send me your email address by PM.

Victory at Sea: Cold War play test

Regarding aircraft speeds, I think in practice most non-fighter intercept missions will be carried out at a high subsonic cruise, usually at low altitude in the target area to avoid radar and SAMs. For naval air combat the Falklands proved this. So I think you can group most attack aircraft...

Victory at Sea: Cold War play test

Joe I tink the missile AD needs to reflect the maximum number of missiles able to be tracked for that system in a single attack, not the number of missiles or the max ROF. Otherwise defenses will be able to launch so many defensive missiles that SSMs will hardly ever get through any ship with...

Email address for Denian Shps? 1/3000 Type 45 model?

DM Thanks. Navwar doesn't do on-line ordering. Does anyone know who carries Navwar's range and has an on-line store?

Email address for Denian Shps? 1/3000 Type 45 model?

Does anyone have an email address for Denian Models, or anyone who sells their ships? There is a snail mail address at TMP but it is not very convenient. I live in South Australia. Alternatively, does anyone know where I can get 1/3000 scale models of modern Aussie Anzac class (Meko), UK Type...

    VAS Cold War/Modern Variant

Thanks Dave. I am gving them one last edit (i.e. massive rewrite of errors revealed by last round of playtesting) then will send them along to you.

    VAS Cold War/Modern Variant

For those who aren't already bored, I should add a few things I have proposed in this. Hidden movement - all ships start as a counter that could be a ship or a decoy; you get one decoy couner for every ship. A large bit of the game is workign out which counters are really the enemy and...

    VAS Cold War/Modern Variant

I haven't been on the forum for a while and I don't wish to steal Joe's thunder if this is almost done. But I have been working on various ways to do a Modern (Falklands & after) VAS variant on and off over the past two years and thought I would share my experiences. Like a lot of people I...
