T5 so when is it going to be on sale

Discussing T5 rules here, other than regards sharing material, would be in bad form. Discussing availability is quite different. Its been done in the past with no censure - and Matt has even mentioned T5 in other threads. Originally MgT was promoted as a sort of stepping stone to an eventual...

    Star Frontiers conversion

http://www.downport.com/ As to an article covering MgT/Star Frontier conversions, an email to the folks at http://www.starfrontiersman.com/ and to Matt might quickly address this (and provide an appropriate place to 'publish'). Enjoy!

    Firefly characters for Traveller

Falcon is the only one that pre-dated Traveller - as to the rest, well, obviously they were all from Traveller games, folks just can't admit it for legal reasons :P A while back I started to plan a Firefly Traveller game, but changed direction. Anyway, here are some of the notes I made for...

    XKCD - Exoplanets

Yep - those are the near earth sized ones from last year (technically 'discovered' by Kepler mission much earlier) ;) Found my links (NASA, duh): http://kepler.nasa.gov/; http://www.nasa.gov/mission_pages/kepler/news/smallest-exoplanets.html Habital planets are the ones I'm most interested in...

    XKCD - Exoplanets

No - we've had the tech for quite some time - just not well identified solar candidates to focus on ;) Till Kepler data came on the scene, that is. Earth sized planets were confirmed last year and in Jan. three exoplanets smaller than Earth were confirmed (Palomar & W.M. Keck Observatories...

Figures for max press and carry weight

Easterner - just do a Str task check. Use difficulty level DMs as appropriate and invert timing DMs. There are no hard and fast rules in the RW (lot of physics to cover all bases) - task check success levels let you accommodate such. One can strain oneself and pickup/maneuver something...

    Appraising

Agreed - and typical Rogues wouldn't make the best appraisers, nor get top credits for their, er, acquisitions. That would be a Rogue/Merchant. Or a Rogue in the company of a Merchant.

2300AD: Ship design Clarke Class Explorer

Interesting take... I'll have one of each. :D

    Appraising

Quite true. Broker was aimed at the OP's appraising the value. And streetwise might indeed be the relevant 'skill' for certain, er, goods - though that would be more dependent on the character (a Rogue with Broker skill vs. a Scout, perhaps). When it comes time for selling... Streetwise would...

2300AD: Ship design Clarke Class Explorer

Port(s) forward/center would help 'balance' things... Seeing it in 3D would probably help

    Appraising

Good point locarno24. I'd use Recon rolls for spotting hidey holes and such (and alarms). Spotting interesting/potentially valuable stuff, I wouldn't roll for though. That is more my prose (you see shiny X, expensive looking Y, original looking Z) and player RP (I look for any crystal objects...

2300AD: Ship design Clarke Class Explorer

Even better! (Like the VTOL - though does look a wee bit smallish...)

    Traveller 5th Edition

Hardcopy and CD are already promised. Expect that downloadable will be available at some point - maybe the kickstarter monies will get this going. Yep - no land line access in my local area (U.S. - used to be rural/farm, but surrounded by homes now). Even if the local box had normal power...

    AP/SAP on starships

My example was for an armored vehicle. ;) But to address your example: that bat on the plastic side panel of some modern vehicles - where's your dent? To address my example - (conceptually) try that 2d6 wooden bat on one of my friend's 1" thick steel plate bumpers (Armour 2?)... the only...

    AP/SAP on starships

Rikki, like the elegance of rule of dice for a board game or wargaming. May be too pat for an RPG, at least without a lot of conditionals and good numeric range. BTW, are you talking a different damage/combat system, or am I misreading? Ala: Bludgeoning a tank with a club = 2 points of vehicle...
