I hate to Necro an old thread, but I just wanted to say that I must be the only guy I've seen on this forum that LIKES the official story of the Ancients and Grandfather. I like the concept of it so much that I had to reply. Haters. :)

Yeah I picked the book up at my local hobby shop, and I found it to be a fun read. It *does* make me want to play in or run a game of all Dilettantes.

Thanks to everyone for the replies. Oh, I'm not scared or worried. I just can't / won't do it. It is a personal limitation. I either have to use the whole setting as-is, or I have to go 100% custom. It is a quirk. :) In which direction, from the Spinward Marches, should I look? Vargr Extents...
