I agree that some people might rely on magic to survive, but you are grossly mistaken about skills and tactics :!: Maybe you have not challenged your players or had a GM that expected the same in using magic. Also I never believe magic as "deus ex machina", I view it as a support role...

A few month back I was frustrated that my Scholar's Evil Eye was not allowed to work in a combat situtation and found the responses on the subject helpful.

As the player with the "lucky massive damage check" in that session, I have to agree that we were very lucky. We roled well and the GM not so well. What our GM also did not tell you was that if not for immediate medical attention over half of our characters would have been dead. I enjoyed...
Lady Maja, great job in hunting and killing the informant. I thought that Raz should be a honorably mentioned for his skills in using his horse as a weapon.
BTW- Ajonga was especially greatful to Maja since the informant was the lady who gave him his backrub. Nothing rubs Ajonga the wrong...

I am one of the players in this session, I found the map in its current condition to be a distraction to the session. I would rather not use the map. Besides without the map it enhances the idea that most of our group is new to the city and have no idea where we are.
