Modern combat : is it out..?

Oh, and i got my copy this morning...nearly missed the train cos of it but it's here. On first impressions i'm happy. Things look more balanced, the style is a nice combo of the WAW book and the old one - i do miss the colour myself. Am hoping to get a game in on Saturday to see how it works...

Modern combat : is it out..?

Not really the rules fault what you've converted. Besides, as long as you inform your opponent and have paid the points it's irrelivant. I'd have no problem with this if you could show it on your list even at tourny. I like to think that people have a common sense approach to this. Also, does...

    Spotting targets

I like this idea, it has a good feel to it. Could make a good advanced rule. Anything that contributes to fog of war without being OTT is good IMO.

    .30 Cal MG's [WAW]

Cheers, guys. I will give it a try at some point as i have the mini's. I can see the logic in it's ommision but it could be useful to represent historic formations or a bit points shaving. Thanks for the answers :)

    .30 Cal MG's [WAW]

Might be a stupid question (not being an arms expert) but 30.cals are not in the armory section for US infantry. I thought they were very prominent in WW2. Is it a deliberate omission?

Another good review at Wargames Journal.

Great review! Think it really showed the spirit of the game well and recognised it's aims. Also with fair comments on the past without really laying into mongoose. Shall keep my eyes open for the battle report it mentions.

Anybody got world at war evo..?

Yeah, totally know what you mean with the rep issues. I've ordered the book and got some 1/72 WW2 stuff around and one willing opponent from my group. We plan to have a game next game day and see if people will be more interested when they see the game working. I've not mentioned it on purpose...

1/72 Germans for World at War

Nice one, mate. You've made a good job of them. Can i ask what paint range you used? Cheers, Carl

    German Tank Platoon organization

This is really well modelled in the Rules Of Engagement rule set by Great Escape games. Armies have national traits that model the mis-interpretation. It's my fav WW2 rule set and despite awful cover artteh book is awesome complete with a good selection of historic photos. Can't recommend it...

Considering writing a Winter War supplement for WaW

Hi Matt, Can't thank you enough for taking the time to answer the above queries. I will definately watch to see what happens with this. Wish Mongoose and Ben, Hiro and any others so inclinded the best of luck with this most interesting way of doing things. Cheers, Carl

Considering writing a Winter War supplement for WaW

So effectively mongoose have no quality control over these liecenced and logo'ed supplements? That is a bit disapointing. A supplement could be really broken in terms of game balance but it has the logo, is technically official and game legal. If i buy a supplement for a mini game i want some...

Considering writing a Winter War supplement for WaW

It would put me off buying a supplement if could be replaced by an "official" one weeks later. I'd also be less inclined to pre-order anything and wait until someone tells me about it (depending on price mind). Also what happens with tournaments, which lists are legal where two versions are...

Considering writing a Winter War supplement for WaW

But is it the best business approach to have people effectively re-writing your official supplements? Could it do any harm? I'm playing devil's advocate here. But if two books exist covering exactly the same material is that going to cause issues to new gamers? If you get the 'wrong' one will...

    World At War Listing

To be fair it's a long way from the worst games cover i've seen and far from the worst art mongoose has published. That said, yeah not stunning. My fav WW2 rule set "Rules of engagement" by Great escape games has a horrible cover but the inside of teh book is excellent. No dodgy drawings...
