Questions for Mongoose

Here's another ancient Deus Vult question. In Signs & Portents 92, Carl Walmsley published a really interesting DV adventure (that I just read) entitled, "The Lost Hoffman Schematics: Part 1". Was Part 2 ever published? If so, where may I find it?

Hi, Team:

I'm working on a Roll20 charactermancer for Mongoose Traveller 2e based on the
rules in the Core Rulebook Update 2022. My plan is to use the flow specified
in the Traveller creation chapter. Currently I have characteristic rolling and
assignment working. I'm about to start on choosing skills as part of the
background step.

I don't want to copy your roll table text verbatim because that would be a
copyright violation (and rude!). I would like to use the outcomes (skill
changes, ally/enemy gain, ...). Will this be ok?

Also I'm not going to hard-code the tables into the charactermancer itself.
I'll keep them as a JSON file so I can use them in my campaign. If you want,
I'd be happy to give you a copy for your review/use. Will this be ok?

Finally, is there any plan to partner with Roll20 to create a "Mongoose
Approved" character sheet and/or Compendium?

Thanks

Just to let you know that, on this issue, we are in the process of officially diving into Roll20 ourselves. You will see Paranoia appearing _very_ soon, and Traveller will quickly follow.

Maybe we need a new ammunition type: Silent (morphable): x10 cost, TL12 - the round morphs into a a sound-baffling shape to limit supersonic shockwave noise, stackable with Smart (at half cost, since the morphing lets you steer the bullet) and other traits. Of limited utility in a vacuum.
Maybe another JTAS article: specialist ammunition traits.

Or a fancy Gauss rifle with a selector that shoots the slug at a low velocity (just turn down the energy input), which does less damage, no AP but gets the Silent Trait.

Sonic boom, if their muzzle velocity > Mach 1.

A long time ago, I remember reading somewhere that there are two distinct sounds. First, the exploding gun powder. This sound helps identify where the shooter is. This helps you shoot back at the shooter. Second, the sonic boom from the bullet passing by. The problem with the sonic boom is that the sonic boom comes from the path of the bullet when it's perpendicular to you. In other words, the sound you hear does not indicate where the shooter is. For many shooters, that might be enough.

(I'm also not sure what the difference in volume would be between the sound of the gunpower exploding versus the sonic boom. Has anyone measured the differences in volume?)

I am aware. the sonic boom is not that loud. from behind the rifle all you here is the whistling down range. Garand Thumb on youtube did a video and you dont need hearing protection and it is not very loud
