Can a Power Plant be hardened?

High Guard ship design states that any system drawing power from the power plant can be hardened. Would it not make sense to be able to also harden the PP itself?

That is not the system chosen.

Ion weapons attack the function of power consuming systems, or perhaps power distribution, not power production itself.
