Yet another batch of noob ?'s

Hey guys,
If this has already been posted I'm sorry. Why doesn't the Arms and Equipment Guide Armour section include the armour's skill penalty. Has anyone come up with these? Is there a formula?

Thanks in Advance and more will be coming,
Dustin

The Formula is -1% per armor point per location.

So 3 point armor on all 7 locations is -21%.

Hope that helps.

Oh yeah, and welocme to the board!

I think there are exceptions to that in the Magic of Glorantha book.

It's a bit funny anyway. A well fitting, high-tech armour should give good protection with less penalty. Some armour (like troll lead-armour) should propably give more penalty then average per point of protection.

Simple isn't always better. The very high armour penalties (42% for full hoplite armour) may be in part because of the simple math.

True, Draconic armor seems to be half penalty.

And it can - there are rules for this in the Companion under the rules for Item Quality. The Nimble effect (-1% to armor penalty per location) can be stacked up to 3 times, effectively making Ring weightless or halving the penalty for plate. Got bucks?

Agreed. This really hasn't been covered in any released material yet. I figure lead weapons and armor will may get treatment in Uz, if not sooner in the Players Guide.

The limit is 3? I think a limit like half the AP rating might be better. Or can we really make leather than adds 2% per location to skill ratings?

One idea I mentioned before was that instead of applying the penalty to skills, it could be applied to the Fatigue rolls. I think that that would be simpler (you only need to do the math for one skill) AND more accurate. I think cutting down the time between fatigue tests a bit would help too.
