Wyatt Earp

The only dissapointment* I have with OGL Wild West is that Wyatt Earp was not included among the Rogues Gallery characters, even though Doc Holliday is. So, rather than complain, I have taken it upon myself to correct this oversight. Before I post my version, however, I would like to see what combination of classes, and what vocations, you all think Earp should be constructed of. Note that I am leaning more towards the "mythic" Earp (although not ridiculously so) than the "realistic" version.

Further research seems to indicate that the gun Earp used in the "Gunfight at the O.K. Corral" was a Smith and Wesson American. I have found no information on what other guns he might have used except for quotations from Stuart Lake's fabricated "biography".

There are lots of sources out there on gunfighters including Wyatt Earp, both fictional and nonfictional...not to mention some other RPGs supplements. Lots of Colts used in westerns movies.

Your Earp looks alright to me. Have been loving OGL Wild West and using with some Sidewinder: Recoiled in a online game for a few months now.

I don't have OGL WW so I don't know what guns are in it, but your mention of Earp having a S&W seemed weird to me. I always heard he had a Colt Peacemaker so I did a search on his gun and came up with this site

http://home.earthlink.net/~knuthco1/Itemsofinterest3/Buntlinesource.htm

basically says he used a Colt Peacemaker that was a limited edition model called a Buntline Special. It says that it was most likely a myth though and it could have been the American. Course since it's a internet site can't put much stock on it. I usually hear him as owning a Peacemaker though, I think the movie tombstone and Wyat Earp said that, could be wrong. Maybe it will help thought.

"When the legend becomes fact, print the legend" <g>

The Buntline Special is a myth. Supposedly Ned Buntline gave special pistols to five famous lawmen to thank them for their service...but the historical facts don't line up.

The presence of the American is also somewhat suspect, I guess. It would be fine to give Earp the Peacemaker or whatever gun is desired, actually.

Thanks for the comments :) Hopefully this will prove useful to folks.

According to Stuwart Lake (I know, a questionable source) Earp was a buffalo hunter in the early 1870's. Buffalo hunters used large 50 cal rifles (again, according to SL, so did Earp).
