World War I miniatures game?

ive fought about this, but i feel WW1 would make a good board game ... ie build trenches, do over the top runs,, set up covering machine guns... have wind effecting gas cloads and smoke... spend resourses on air attacks and artilery shelling ...

make it very tactical with counters, but include reaction rules.

The problem with the Great War setting is that the famous bit, the trench war, is the one that makes for the least interesting games. The trench raiding bit is fine but at larger scales the fun fades a bit. The other settings, Africa, Mesopotamia and so on are not so famous so lack the market appeal of the western front.
