Why the new Troligan?

I don't think the Minbari have enough ships (hulls). I like the new model for the Troligan even if I'm in the minority, but I'd like to know why it was a REPLACEMENT instead of an ADDITION.

I assume the old ship is permanently retired from production now. What was the problem with the old ship?

I'd like to see the NArn and a few other fleets get some love...EA/Minbarri/Centauri hav enough stuff to keep them going for a while...

Personally I don't mind the new hull, though a lot of my mates HATE it. As for the old Trolli stat wise, the Tinashi was just so much a better ship that there was no point to take the Trolli, the Trolli needed a role where it was worthwhile taking.

Unfortunatly they have now made it so powerfull that there is no point taking the Tinashi, so whats next... a New Tinashi thats even harder? Like it really needed to get its Fusion TL... it was fine as it was before they did that, but now its looking rather weak and unloved.....

The Narn have 12 unique hulls and 2 fighter designs.

The Minbari have 8 unique hulls and 3 fighter designs.

The Centauri have 16 unique hulls and 3 fighter designs.

The EA have 21 unique hulls, 3 fighter designs 2 star bases and 3 civilian ship designs.

This is what is currently listed for sale on the website.

For the record, the Dilgar have 11 ships and 1 fighter design and the Drakh have 6 ships.

the ISA have 5 ships now, was 4. and before armageddon that had 2.
the dakh will have 8 once all their ships actually out.

And the new one still doesnt have gravitic shifters. Why not? It would have given it a different and likely desirable role helping it stand out against the tinashi.

it's better than the Tinashi, doesn't need to stand out! :P

but have the option to field from almost every other fleet if they so choose.

Personally, I would say, you should see the most hulls from EA and Narn, as two of the youngest space faring races, they have both been playing catch up, whereas the minbari, drakh, and even the Centauri have been round long enough to have slowly wittled their fleets down to the best ships for the job, merging all techs to make good stuff. Rather like a modern airforce has 6-7 aircraft types, instead of 20-30 during WWII. However, that said, I'm in no rush to see any new Narn designs, and I thik EA should take a breather for a while. New drakh sculpts, then fill up the league a bit more, thats the way to go, And as I have said many times, stations for other races, kitbash stuff would be fine a la the tantalus, 3 t'loth wings and some bases and some rods, and voila, a Narn station as Reaverman made :-)

If they gave it some energy mines and missiles as well as gravitic shifters it would really stand out from the crowd, and be a must in any minbari fleet..... Oh and if it could go SM it would be the icing on the cake :)

I suspect Shipmonkey was referring to the B5wars armament of the ship, where it had Gravity Webs and a very specialised role in the fleet. It would obviously have to sacrifice other weapons to get them.

Plus its not out of character for the Minbari, the Grey Council's Sharlin used what must be something similar to a gravitic shifter to capture Sinclair's Starfury in In the Beginning...

The Troligan could just have a scaled up version...

they can grab a ship as its something to do with their gravity system, its explained in one of the 1st scenarios with the WS cos that can grab a ship too as it has same artificla gravity.

Still not a very big step to a gravitic shifter, especially as Minbari tech is much more advanced than Brakiri. However I'm not saying the Troligan should get them, just saying that its not actually a non-characteristic technology.
