Who's playing in Glorantha now or soon?

Newtus

Mongoose
Admitly Glorantha 2nd Age has just come out, but inspired by the shear lovelyness of it. I'm going to start preping a short campaign over the next couple of weeks with what I've read so far in the released books.

The Return to Glory!
Premise: The remnants of the Dara Happan Empire vs the invading Empire of the Wyrms Friends.

Background: During the second age the EWF invaded the Dara Happan Empire (which in 3rd age is part of the Lunar Empire). They put a false Sun Dragon on the throne and pushed the faithful followers of the true Emperor to the northern most provinces of the Empire.

It is in one of these provinces that the mighty Dara Happan General Transior throws his javalin in the ground before the gates of the City of Serris and shout definatly at the massing enemy

"NOT ONE STEP BACKWARDS ON HALLOWED DARA HAPPAN LANDS!!"

It will be a war epic, were the players are Dara Happans fighting the EWF to preserve their homes and way of life. A nice straight forward hack n slash game with magical bangs, which I think MRQ will handle better than HQ, which tends to drift off in all sorts of directions at once.

I've already got the lions share of the history/setting from my 3rd age HeroQuest lunar game. It will be fun to see the main setting, the Dara Happan city state of Serris in a different age, similar yet different, and use the exploits of the heroes in this game to give colour and history for my 3rd age game.

I'm going to do character gen straight from the core rulebook, with pcs being able to start with Rune Magic which is appropriate to them as good Dara Happans (eg Fire magic is fine, but storm magic nooo). My plan is to scale up the magic as Magic/Cults of Glorantha are released, but even if I manage to get players tomorrow I reckon the material in the books released thus far is enough to get enough play until those books are released.

Anyone else similarly inspired?

Our GM elect is writing up a short game for us to play. I the meantime we are doing some basic hack and slash to get used to the system and to devise our house rules systems. The GM is also writing a KoDP/Oblivion inspired character generation questionaire, just to make things interesting. So far we are not sure when or where the game will be set, the GM is giving us no leads. So far our slay sessions are some country lads hired on as muscle to slay bandits hassling an Issarian. We expect to be thoroughly outclassed in the final confrontation, but are all prepared to run like hell to live (I just wish I had a motion rune though).

I am running an occasional 2nd Age game from out of my house for a handful of my locals. The plus side...they get to use stuff long before it comes out for sale. The drawback...I get to use stuff long before it comes out for sale against them!

So far its been fun, I hope they think the same.

Cheers,
Bry

Definitely want to run Glorantha soon, but I've not made many contacts around here yet, but if anyone on this Forum is in the Manchester/Stockport area and interested P/M me.

Hey, Newt, if there's an opening (and our mutual friends continue to be useless) I'd happily pop across for a hack. I created a Dara Happan when first playing about with MRQ.

Cheerio,

Stu.

P.S. Charlie, there is a group (actually two, at present) that meets at The Midway in Stockport, every Tuesday. While Pendragon is on the menu at present, it's quite possible people would be up for some RuneQuest in the near future -- particularly if you wished to run! I'll PM you with some further details.

We're currently in the middle of a short D&D campaign, but I'm definitely going to start a RQ campaign fairly soonish, probably after Christmas.

I *love* the new 2nd age stuff, but I'm completely torn between playing that, and using some of the reams of 3rd age stuff that I've got sitting on a shelf.

I have recently started a 2nd age campaign set in Ralios, and specifically in the county of Lalia. This was a blank land in the old Orange Glorantha box set. Blank lands were lands that Chaosium would never develop so allowing individual GMs scope to develop their own campaigns.

i hope Mongoose will continue to do this with the 2nd age.

So far all my players are citified Orlanthi, a noble with Mostali blood and a sorcerer, a Duck, a militiaman, Blacksmith and a civilised rascal. I ran them through the Rune of Chaos and am now letting them explore and follow some of the threads described in that scenario.

It is not labelled on their Ralios maps as yet. It is probably not there at all during the 2nd Age.
