White Stars are Atmospheric!

White Stars are atmospheric! I mean, come on - all through the series they're in and out of atmo. It's a small tweak but tweaks me that the rules don't reflect this.

Fix in 2nd Ed!! :x

Atmospheric? Game Balance? Really....

Come on....

Atmospheric must be the simplest, most irrelevant trait in the game.

Think it means they can target emplacements & such in planetary assault scenario which don't really see as a issue.

Ikorta needs it as well, how is it the biggest ship that can land on a planet when it's non atmospheric...
and more fluff, the G'Kock relies on it's speed..... it's speed 4.
and nowhere on the brivoki description des it say largest speaker system in the galaxy

I asked Matt a bout this and that WS were playtested with Atmospheric and Scout traits, Matt used the word "sick" to describe the WS' performance.

The WS as it stands just now has lost a lot since the SFoS incarnation, surely the atmospheric trait is paltry compared to the now reduced 4+ dodge and the rest in the grand scheme of things....?

Also, I love the way they go to the trouble of specifiying the Brikorta is Atmospheric in the fluff, which incidently has wings which imply it too, then dont give it the atmospheric trait in the rules

Seems a bit silly to me.

It's the mobile sound system for the band Disaster Area.

The Brakiri and Abbai are trying to keep the fact that they've figured out how to make sound travel in vacuum secret.

If I ever bought a Brivioki (well fristly if I ever did such a thing with the current model please shoot me ;)) I think I would have to mound some neon purple LEDs to give it underlighting, model on a gigantic spoiler, and add as many tacky chrome bits as I could. Oh and paint random bits gold just for extra bling :P.

In fact I'm almost tempted to build and paint a Chavkiri fleet now just for the sheer hell of it :D

So that's why you could hear thing in space battles during the show....

I always took Atmospheric to mean was capable of manouvre and combat in atmosphere. So for the Brivoki at least it could mean that it's capable of landing in atmosphere but little else.

As the rules stand only auxilliary craft can the benefit of the atmospheric trait - ie attacking troops. So a capital ship could gain no benefit from the trait - so in terms of fluff, the Whitestar and Ikorta can enter the atmosphere but have no game effect. (Additional rules covering ship movement in the atmosphere would be required).

"But we saw the Whitestar do it in the series!", I hear you cry. To which I will respond, "Wait patiently for the second edition and these will be included."
