When did Raiders get the Nova?

I may have missed something. When did Raiders get an EA Nova? I saw it on Burger's stat page and was surprised. What did I miss and where can I find it?

a hulked Nova was reclaimed, salvaged, rebuilt, modified, and refit in a prevous S&P article. Looks like its been made an official part of the fleet list, but I haven't yet seen wether we'll get an official model or if everyone is left to conversions.

I wonder how long can the raiders have fun with the Nova ?
The Nova is a Warship. And I can´t think of goverments which allow "Pirates" with Warships in their terretory.

It´s like todays Pirates get their hands on a Sowjet Destroyer.

yes but youre forgetting one thing Goldritter, space is big. REALLY big (etc etc, Im not going to recite the whole hitchhikers bit....) But basically theres alot of places to hide.

Secondly you seem to be confusing raiders for the equivalent of modern day pirates where sea travel is old and established and the sea is firmly in the grip of the navies.

Look back to the 18th century though, where pirates occasionally got their hands on ships as big as frigates and the navies had only relatively slow ships that could take weeks to even FIND a pirate and even then might not be able to overpower them easily..... You must remember that the EA (well at least pre crusade era anyway) are still fairly new to this whole 'space' lark :P

The vast majority of their space is policed very very looseley (if at all).

Yes I know.

But again, if I remember right, the EA has plenty of experience of hunting raiders.

But I think more about goverments which help raiders (like Narn).
Do you think, that the Narn like it, when raiders set Base on their terretory with such a ship ?

Besides, it now give me a real reason to play a Raider fleet. The fraggin things has 12 AD of BEAMS (i'm counting in the LPAS here btw) on boresight. Sure its not DD or SAP, but unless its always shooting at Hull 6, its going to shred most anyhing smaller or equal in size. Toss in a hefty Dam/Crew score (although the Hull 5 is a knock) and the things a real bruiser at short range.
Before playing Raiders was always just for fun but with a Battle PL Nova backing up hordes of Fighters(and carrying quite a few of its own), I'd say Raiders just got a lot more interesting to play.

Also bear in mind it's a Nova-class...by Crusade era, they're no longer in Earthforce service in any significant quantity; they've all been decomissioned, and after the Minbari war/Civil war, there are a lot of hulks floating out there in the stars....

Just to bear in mind (not aimed at you specifically chern, just quoting cos you brought it up) the stats for the Armageddeon Raider Nova aren't the same as the one in S&P (The Argent Crusade or something like that). the Nova in Armageddeon probably wouldn't need a new mini, you can justify the increased fighter load because Delta Vs are smaller than starfuries, and the only weapon change is the laser, which doesn't require a major change to the hull or anything.

The Endgame Nova from Argent's Crusaders is really nothing like the new Raiders Nova. The stats are totally different.

lets just hope they never get their hands on Bin Tak... or a Sharlin!!

I think they'd really struggle to work alien technology - and I doubt even the Narn would have a spares catalogue for Sharlins  . Or that they'd support humans using one of their largest warships.

When you consider that the Raiders operating in season 1 had to spend every penny they'd earned in years to get that strike carrier, the cost of operating a dreadnought or anything near that size doesn't bear thinking about. They'd need the GDP of a small planet just to maintain and crew it, and it'd attract a great deal of attention.

Is it just me or do bits of Lord of War pop into your head at this point...

Aisle 8 for the Bin'Tak, Aisle 9 for the Ka - you'll want to fit that to the Bin'Tak....

(actually, thinking about it, after the Narn/Centauri war there should be enough G'Quan hulks out there...)

Aisle 10 for old EA warships..LEAVE THAT SAGGITARIUS ALONE! I SAW YOU LOOKING!

I got the impression from G'kar and G'lan talking that the Narn had done a very good job of salvaging all of their hulks, stripping them bare to repair any of their surviving ships.

Any battles where the Shadows were involved, I don't think you'd see enough debris left to put together a functional ship. The few destroyed Sharlins we see get well and truly dissected, just like G'stens battle group.

So is the Argent's Crusade legal? or is it from a scenario?

Because that Endgame Nova is just disgusting!

they're not tournament legal, but there's nothing stopping you from taking them in a campaign or pick-up game if your opponents don't mind
