What's their likely response?

In A Drinax A Campaign that I'm advising A Rookie GM on her players have really angered The GeDeCo and she and I want to know The GeDeCo's likely response. Here's what they've done, but its took 155.4 in-game months

Officially and peacefully broke Tech-World away from The GeDeCo, used The Zhodanni to stage A Armed Rebellion that drove The GeDeCo from Sperle and unofficially broke Acrid and Argona from The GeDeCo

Manipulated people, planets, armies and navy's across The Trojan Reach so that first The Floranni League replace The GeDeCo as The Third Strongest Power then Drinax replaces them as The Fourth Strongest Power

Used The Zhodanni to get The Glorious Empire to destroy The New Class-A Starport with The WMD from Adventure 6

Then within the last 10 in-game days finish a decade long plan to rid Theev of The Widows then have The Zhodanni throw The GeDeCo off of Theev

This situation is so far beyond what I would consider possible on that time frame - or at all, in some cases - that trying to come up with a meaningful response is impossible.

As always... anyone wanting to play at such a grandiose level of bloat should develop at least a passing familiarity with politics, economics and logisitics so they can answer the questions that seem to repeat themselves at intervals - or realise they absurdity of what is being postulated.

What I suspect is happening here is a play style along the lines of 'roll 8+ to get the Zhodani to send a battlefleet to wipe out that world' which suggests a complete misunderstanding of the scale the game is set up for.

One thing you might consider though.... if a Traveller with the Biggest Portfolio Ever can achieve all this in that time frame, GeDeCo with its immensely greater resources can do far, far more.

It looks like you're allowing players to acheive far too much with simple dice checks, which is a setting-breaker. The core rules are about a handful of poeple with fairly ordinary resources doing the best they can. The core rule are not designed to simulate empire-building on a massive scale... so if you try to do it that way you hit the same problem every time.

I suggest you maybe develop some large-scale 'Great Game' style mechanics to cover this sort of situation, or stick to what the core rules are meant for. That way you wouldn't keep having to ask variations on the same question every few weeks. Or, if you really want to play this way... learn what you need to in order to handle it. There are some very good books at the educated-layman level on politics, economics, logistics and the like, or you could try reading some history to see how real cultures dealt with large-scale events.

A good starting point might be the Norsemen. In 793AD raids were made by a handful of ships at most and were just piraty raids on the coasts. By 900AD Norse fleets were landing whole armies of thousands of men and there were Norse kingdoms in being. Their methods are relevant to a Drinax type campaign. Norman adventurers in Europe (again, displaced Norsemen) created their own kingdoms in places like Sicily. There is also a case for looking at the colonisation and conquest of North and South America by small and often ill-supported expeditions.

I've written some quite good books on these subjects (other authors are available) and I understand the big-picture better than most. And yet I can't answer your question. The reason for this is that your play style produces results so skewed that it is not possible to apply much logic to them. So.. how about you (and this hypothetical multitude of other Drinax referees) get a handle on how big-picture economics and such like works?

Then you would not have to keep asking a question whose answer comes down to 'you have let your players do stuff that has broken the setting. There is no fix for that.'

Once again with a a Drinax campaign that lasts 13 years. How many sessions did you play to get through 13 years of game time? How do you roleplay the events you described?

It’s your universe. The response is literally what you come up with. Hostile, bounties, ignore, legal action, black ops, hire, etc...
