What Traveller Ship technology is not in Mongoose? (yet!)

Nerhesi

Cosmic Mongoose
I was randomly browsing when I happened upon Repulsors, and thought damn it - why I can't find Mongoose rules for these!

a) So what significant ship weapons/defenses that have not made it in Mongoose?
b) Are they available in Classic Traveller so that they're easy for me to import? :)

Repulsers where used in the Reigns of Discordia Traveller setting.

Spinal-mounted disintegrators, D-gun turrets, antimatter spinal guns, ship's transporters, coherent bonded superdense armour, white globes.

Off the top of my head.

AI as ships (as in The Culture).

Not precisely AI as ships, but can reside in the ships computer and such with Terra/Sol Games Twilight Sector.

AI ships would probably be NPCs really, with PCs along for the ride. However, crewless mega-ships are not yet possible rules-wise... probably too new a concept in Sci-Fi for the period that 'Traveller' was written in.

In this case the AI can be the crew. But AI's can be players. AI's still have skills and the like.

Fusion Guns (ie not Bay weapons)
Jump Dampers (Megatraveller?)

There was a few bay options missing too I think.

You could argue theres a whole pile of software missing too.

Gravitic drives for Adventure and Capital class ships.

? The manoeuvre drive is gravitic. Page 42 of high guard says that the gravitic drive is the standard throughout the imperium. All ships in travel use a gravitic drive as standard (the manoeuvre drive).

I put that down to editorial oversight. Try comparing smallcraft and their larger cousins' drives.

Explain.

For a moment I was thinking reactionless gavitic drives, ala Minbari and Space Opera-ness

:O)

1. Smallcraft: sK Grav 5t/11MCr; Reaction 2.5t/5MCr [factor2/100T]

2. Adventure: A reaction 2t/4MCr [factor2/100T]

3. Capital: factor2/1.25% extrapolated to 100T is 1.25t/MCr0.625

4. Reference is made to both grav and reaction drives.

5. No effort is taken to add another option.

And they can take over robotic "bodies" for off-ship missions too. Possibly leading to complications on lower-tech worlds or in anti-AI places.
