What to do with a Million Spheres ...

Mongoose
My Asornok setting will be shelved until Talons of Winter becomes
available, and so I have decided to rewrite my old Merasan setting
(once more) in the meantime, this time with planar travel across
the Million Spheres as the new element added to it.

The setting's background story is quite simple. A civil war on the
world's eastern continent, a victory of the supporters of Chaos, the
defeated supporters of the Balance flee to a peninsula of the wes-
tern continent and settle there. Unfortunately the somewhat primi-
tive tribes inhabiting the western continent are warlike and hostile,
so the refugees' new state becomes besieged and completely iso-
lated.

Since cultural exchange, trade and any other kind of normal useful
contact with other communities is impossible for the refugees, they
decide to try to establish such contacts with the inhabitants of some
of the other Million Spheres and use their magic to send explorers to
other planes.

The adventures will probably be similar to those of the Stargate se-
ries, small teams of Merasani explorers visiting other planes and loo-
king for opportunities to bring useful knowledge and urgently needed
goods back to their own plane, and if possible to establish some per-
manent friendly relations with inhabitants of other planes.

I've run this sort of campaign before and its fun

last time my players foudn themselves on:

Tragic Millenium Earth - Granbritten Research Outpost
Unknown realm with floating islands and city where one player awoke the sleeping Dragons hidden below the fortress.
Command and Conqour Earth

Have also been to (in other games)
BattleTech - Clan Er - world
Flintlockque world

and others !

The first two planes visited by the Merasani explorers will probably
be the Young Kingdoms and Tragic Millenium Earth.
I think that their problem during the first voyage to another plane
will be to avoid to get lost and to find a way to return safely to Me-
rasan, while the theme of the second adventure will be the search
for a spell or item which enables them to move an entire ship in-
stead of only a few people to other planes and back, which would
make true trade possible (and would give the characters some mo-
bile base on the planes they visit).
