What Should go in Cults of Glorantha Book 3?

Rurik

Mongoose
For starters we need all the cults that didn't make 1&2 (thief gods, trickster, city god example, etc).

As has been mentioned in another thread a section on Rune Metals and how to work them is needed, and this would be a good place for it.

A list pf Gods by Pantheon.

Perhaps a Master Index of all 3 volumes.

Any other thoughts?

I am still waiting for my copy of Cults 2, so I can only go by the list posted elsewhere on the forum but some omissions I noticed were Vivamort, Nysalor (I can't remember if we have to wait for "Le Dame Rouge" to bring him back), Subere (though she might be in "Uz") & Anilla (ditto). Depending on how the Hsunchen cult is written, cults like Basmol, Telmor, Dital & Rathor might be neccesary. Oh and while we're writing a wish list Cacodaemon, Krarsht and The Bloody Tusk.

I know they're not strictly Gloranthan, but I'd love to see the return of Panash & Nik-El from Questworld, 'cos I always liked them and I've always let players use them in Glorantha. Mainly based down in Casino Town & Nochet although there are also small temples in Jonstown & Adari. (Well in my Glorantha anyway).

Path of Immanent Mastery, Krarsht and Vivamort would be cool
Kolat and Grandmother Earth shaman practises
A few more Spirit entities...
Bulk out the other pantheons who seem a bit light on Gods

I don't actually have my Cults 2 either, so likewise I am working based on what has posted on this board as well.

But since it is a well documented fact that heresay, rumors, and outright falsehoods are never posted in this forum I think it is safe to work under the assumption that what has been posted is all true.

I know chaos is not as prevelent in the Second Age, but it does seem that a good number of the classic 'terror' cults are not making the cut.

I mean, you can never have too much evil.

How many cult books will there be?

Well, Mongoose has only announced the two. But with all we know that didn't make it into Cults 1 or 2 there is definately room for a Cults 3. Actually cults 1&2 being 160 page books would probably have been the best solution, but it is too late for that.

So I'm figuring if we all just pretend Cults 3 is coming out maybe the Mongooses will start to beleive it too.

Quick list of cults in COGII
======================
Daka Fal/Ancestor worship
Horned Man
Basmoli, Damal,Pralori, Rathori, Sofals
Eritiha, Waha, Found Child, an stormbull
Kargzant, Ungariant
Pamalt & Necklace
Atroxic Church, Bradans Book, Cog of Zistor, Knights of St Volanc, Malkioni True Church, Order of Gark, Order of Malakinus the Learned, Saint Waertag, School of hwarosian Mysteries, Xemelite nuns
Arkat King Troll, Kyger Litor
Aldrya, Errinoru's Son, Song of Bergara
Mostal, Crucible of Iron
Bagog, Gark, Thed, Mallia, Primal Chaos, Thanatar

Only a couple of minor quibbles, but IMHO its one of the best books so far,
luvvv the shamanic cult rules... should have been in RQ3 :) or core MRQ.

For me , I always wanted to have the Cannibal cult invite my players over for dinner, but all I know about it is what I read in Nomad Gods. a write up on the magic societies would also be nice(Like the Serpent dancers)But it and some spirit cults for Shaman would be nice. Not sure if they are around in the second age but if they are I think the Henotheistic church would be good, as I always wanted to know how wel lthey got along with more orthodox Orlanthi
Come to think of it , they could just reprint Cults of Terror as most chaos gods did not make it.
and of course a chart showing how well every cult got along with other would be nice.

Which Means we're only missing:
Vivamort, Krjalk, Krarsht, Pocharngo, Cacodemon
Bloodytusk, Yelorna
Thief god(Lanbril), City gods, Herd Goddesses
Path of Immanent Mastery
East Isle Gods
Might be nice to give Telmor a lttle detail
Trickster (shudder)
Asrelia, Voria (I really miss her flowers brightening up the place)

The Troll Gods will hopefully shop in the uz book
Aranea, Gorakiki, Subere, Xentha, Annilla

and well be tooled up to the level of RQ3 and some.

oh and then theres the Third age cults if theres space:
Gbaji/Nysalor, 7 Mothers, Red Goddess, Crimson Bat, and Etyries
Pavis, Flintnail, Black Fang, Geo, Dormal, Godunya

Enough for 2 more cult books

My additions:

The gods of Kormandol(sp?) Black Sun etc.
More gods of Pamalt.
More local spirits (for locals)
Gods of Teshnos.
Deities of the Red Moon.

AHHHHHHH! Got you going!

And more solar and elf dieties.

I'd like to see the Cult of Indlas Somer. Just imagine the disaffected teenagers from Zistorwal using the Clanking City's magic for music and for annoying the adults.

are there many differences between these cults and those presented in AH Gods of Glorantha?

Hi All,
My wish list would include Solf, Ompalam, Hedkoranth (The Slinger), Pelaskos the fisherman and his brother Poverri, Minlister the Brewer, Skyriver Titan and the Saints of the Esvulari of Heortland.

How about, rather than another slim, poorly indexed and poorly laid out volume we pretend 20 years have passed and follow Cults of Glorantha vol 1& 2 with "Complete Cults of Glorantha" (A sort of "Moon Designs" style reprint).

This would contain all of the existing material from Cults 1, Cults 2 and Magic of Glorantha, but include all of the Errata and corrections. It would also contain the rules for Divine Magic and Sorcery currently in the Companion, again corrected and erratad to fit Glorantha, and a complete list of Rune Spells showing which Rune or Runes they can be cast under in Glorantha.

It would also contain all the additional cults everyone has mentioned above (maybe not the Gateway ones - they can go into a Companion instead)

It would have a proper, comprehensive Index

It would be laid out sensibly, with each Cult starting on a new page (rather than containing one page-worth of information, but starting 2/3 of the way down the second column)

Wouldn't it be better to have some culture books with long cult descriptions rather than all these short cult descriptions?
I would really like to see Pamalt's folk's culture and religion/pratices.
Short cult descriptions are ok but they leave you wanting more...

Cults always seem a bit odd when disassociated from their cultures.

Hopefully if they stick with the normal black and white priting will get more pages, from my own perspective I'ld rather have seen Cults in Black and white in one volume rather than split in 2+ in techni-colour.

Would love culture books with long descriptions of all the cults here and detailing local spirits and chaos/enemy deities and how they fit in, after all you get the enemies you deserve.

Basically, what we want is all the cults from RQ2/3 in RQM format.

Then we want all the cults that have appeared in HeroWars/HeroQuest in RQM format.

Finally, we want all the cults that were never described in RQ2/3/HW/HQ. So, all the Dragon Cults, all the Malkioni Sects/Schools etc/All the Kralorelan Cults/All the Inhuman Cults.

They'll all fit, won't they?

First the Cults, then the Background ....

Don't forget:

Shamanic Practices Mentioned but not Detailed
Denbitos
Kolat
Noruma
Ganval
Verondun

Helper Practices

Blackfinger
Ganval
Lightning Boy
Frog Woman
Madman of Sky Crater
Oakfed

It looks pretty good.

Yes, the smaller spirit cults of Prax would be a good idea.

Noone did mention Hungry Jack.

Well, you do get Lightning Boy, Ganval, Oakfed, Frog Woman. All Praxian minor spirits. More than anyone else got. ;) I really wish that I had the space to do Pamalt justice though, or provide the Pent Nomads (who are a real menace to the Dara Happans, Praxians, and the Kralorelans) with a bit more ooph and helper practices.
