What Should Go In Companion 2

This post is of course not stealing Ruriks idea for Cults of Glorantha 3. I like to think of it more of an Homage.

While I am a total Glorantha Nut, I think there are is definitely room for a 2nd volume to the Companion for the benefit of Gloranthan & Generic "Murkers" alike. I'd like to see the promised Alchemy & Demonology rules, a few more "generic" cults and additional spells & enchantments for the existing magics. What else would people like to see.

Like Rurik's post this is unsupported by any apparent intention to release such a book, but I like his idea that by believing in a product we can make it appear! :)

Kind fits in with the whole power of myth thing. If we all beleive it must be true.

Though it could be also seen as God Learner meddling I suppose.

The errata for the Core rulebook and the Companion.

Trif.
You can wait a long time for the errata. Those for the Conan's 1 edition were never released despite many threads.

I don't think it's a mongoose policy.

Or you should directly contact the author.

Conan's Atlantean edition was a lot better, but it still should have needed some errata.

Here is an overview of what was missing in the 1st : http://www.mongoosepublishing.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=114521#114521

So definitly I think you'll have to do it by yourself unless someone does it like Sutek.

But I learnt to live without

Ogres and more of the weird critters that didnt make it into the monsters book.

Some more rune spells to give each rune ideally 3 spells or so tied to it.

DECENT MAPS!

The Player's Guide PDF is errata, although it only touches on a few things and doesn't actually resolve some of those.

100% behind that, as well as giving runes a couple of different powers each.
Ogres and more of the weird critters
Heres hoping they make their way in to the Glorantha Players Guide.

Spirit magic as per cults 2 would be good... with a move back to POW vs POW, instead of physical damage.

Thats a bit setting specific- Companion isnt supposed to be setting specific is it?

The additional powers have already been done and are available via DriveThru. It's very good too, easily worth the cost.

Ogres are on p101 in the Monster's book.

I do miss Rubble Runners, though.

I'm gonna quible with the easily worth the cost bit. I was a bit bitter after paying $4.95 for it. The contents I have no problem with, and I am glad to have them, but the amount of content is small for the price. It is inconceivable to me that this costs the same as the Ralios PDF.

Runic Powers was cut from Magic of Glorantha the same way Ralios was cut from GtSA. Runic Powers is a 24 page pdf, and there is a lot of wihitespace on most of the pages. You get 2-5 new possible bonuses for rune integration per rune, a rule for possibly integrating more than one rune (at -100%, so it is a Legendary level thing), flavor text (including different pantheons views of what runes are), and some really nice full page art.

The contents are all good, the powers, flavor, and art is really good stuff - but this in no way should cost as much as Ralios which has about ten times the content. $2.95 or even maybe $3.95, but I cannot support $4.95 for this.

And I don't think Mongoose should be encouraged to charge this much for this little.

Where has my previous (very funny) post gone?

I was wondering that. I think it's time to set up an independent MRQ discussion group somewhere. How about Yahoogroups or googlegroups?

I thought he was referring to the one about not printing errata for the core and companion because it would violate Mongooses 96 page limit.

Good idea, I would be willing to help in someway if a mod was needed or something. I don't know how these things work but I would be willing to learn.

Please forgive me blowing my own trumpet over the joke, I don't do it very often! the quoted post on this page was a little tongue in cheek.

Cool Idea, we can post up conversion notes and stuff...

I've created and administrated yahoogroups before, so I know the system fairly well. It's a more complete package than google groups or plain usenet, as you have good options for email/digest publishing versus online browsing, a file upload area, etc.

That's the way I'd go, mainly because I know it works. The HeroQuest lists are on it, and have been for years.

EDIT

In fact, there's already one there, MongooseRuneQuest.

Edit 2

In fact it has Jane Williams on it, which is always a plus.

And it is hopping with activity too! :P

What!? All my posts in this thread are deleted? What did I do now?

I was actually planning to ask for my old nick back because of my recent good behaviour, but I can obviously forget about that...

Another forum would be great, but message groups? They're just annoying. Nobody with the skills to set up a forum somewhere?

Trif.

EDIT: Typo.
