What Next?

Hey everybody. So far no one here has strayed me wrong, so I have a pretty important question. I have collected up to half of the Conan RPG collection and am looking to get more, but I am curious as to what would be good to get.

Some of my group says Tito's trading Post, some Argos and Zingara, I am tempted by Ruins of Hyboria, yet intruiged at Free Companies and Messentia.

I have the AE, all 3 Hyboria's Best, Pirate Isles on the way, Shadizar, Aquilonia, Stygia, Faith and Fervor, and the Road and Scrolls. So what do you guys recommend? What do you think should be next on the list?

My thanks.

It depends on where you want to take your campaign from here. If your looking for a detailed city from which to launch some adventures (pirates) you might want to look at Messantia. If you have some ancient cities/ruins in mind, Ruins of Hyboria would be better. My favorite though, is Across Thunder River. Great book, but only if you plan on exploring the Pictish wilderness sometime soon.

Thunder River _is_ superb but, as DaveNC says, it's not worth getting if your campaign's nowhere near the Pictish Wilderness. Our campaign is based in Messantia, and the boxed set is useful.

Argos and Zingara provides interesting background if your campaign is based in that area or interacts with those two states a lot. I fin dit' snot as general-purpose useful as Stygia (mainly because Stygia really gives a great background for the BBEGs, as I'm sure you know).

get ruins as it includes adventure sites all across conans world and cool site maps plus adventure ideas 8) it your group are mercinarys at heart free companys is also a must buy 8)

My humble ratings:

Stygia....................10/10
Hyboria's Fiercest........10/10
Ruins of Hyboria..........10/10
Across Thunder River......10/10
Road of Kings.............10/10
Aquilonia.................9.5/10
Hyboria's Finest..........9.5/10
Hyboria's Fallen..........9.5/10
Scrolls of Skelos.........8/10
Faith and Fervour.........8/10
Pirate Isles..............7/10
Free Companies............6/10

I exclude the AE Rulebook because it's not only required, but excellent needlesstosay. Most of the S&P articles are well worth it, but should be rated separately.

I'm an Ancient Egypt buff (did a year of work in Ancient Egyptian language my freshman year) and Stygia gets three thumbs up!

I'm so harsh to PI because some of my research in college was in Maritime History, Nautical Jargon and Customs, and Naval Architecture, and I think that PI could have had much more.

With FC, I was (perhaps mistakenly) expecting more detailed rules for mass combat, in which regard it falls short. That in addition to some sad editing/proofreading issues.

Given Vincent's great track record I have every confidence that Shem will be another blockbuster. 8)

I'll have to recommend you some of the adventures since no one has mentioned them.

Tales of the Black Kingdoms is a pretty cool little mini-campaign. We had a lot of fun with it, and I can absolutely recommend it.
Heretics of Tarantia I haven't had the opportunity to play yet ( ), but from reading it it seems like a really, really good adventure. Very well done.
Tower of the Elephant is also very good, although if your players have read the story it might be slightly less fun (not unusable, though, there will still be a few surprises for them).
The Lurking Terror of Nahab I didn't like at all.
Reavers of the Vilayet I'm only half-way through reading actually, but it seems quite nice.

And for the PDF ones:

The Coming of Hanuman is pretty OK, I actually think it has the potential to be elaborated into a longer adventure.
The Black Stones of Kovag-Re wasn't very good, IMHO.

Perhaps prewritten scenarios isn't your thing, but there is some good stuff there.
