Simple question how do you model your bases do you just paint them black or do you add a level of detail to them?

The bases are painted black and I use a toothbrush and "flick" white paint onto the base. Since all of my ships have names, I do put a name label on the base as well.

I go with rotation marks for my Earth and Brakiri, 'cos it makes using them so much easier. My Vree have no real need for rotation marks, so they get their name on the base.

My ship bases don't get painted at all! They're all the new transparent ball-and-socket type, so I've inscribed firing arc lines and written a small number with a black permanent marker. Apart from that they remain clear.

The fighters are on metal bases which I painted overall black, along with the stems moulded onto the fighters themselves. No identification marks are necessary as they don't need to record damage - either they're there or they're not!

I paint them black. My EA and Psi corps have ship names. Narn are either black (metal) or clear with the magnetic adaptors painted black.

black paint, and I use a metallic colored sharpee marker to make firing arcs at 45deg. separation on the bases for rotation when making turns.
