WaW is the game difficult?

Haven't played FoW, so I can't really compare. But BF:Evo WaW is quite simple ruleswise, but there are some tactical tricks that makes it a more complex game (but not hard).

Yes, there are rules and stats for Aircraft.

WAW is one of those weird games that are very easy to play yet tactically challanging, you have to concentrate more on moving and tactics than you do learning to play. Not played Flames of War which is more for massed battles where WAW is more a squad combat game using maybe 3 or 4 10-ish man squads and a few vehicles and support weapons.

I think WaW flows better than FoW, the actions cause you to think more about tactics and their consequences, rather than just rolling through a list of maneuvers (IE) move, shoot, assault. also, reactions give a nice twist to the game, it makes more sense to react as apposed to just standing there and getting kicked in the teeth...if you can see the whites of their eyes...you have a bayonet in you...shoot him in the face and avoid the whole getting disemboweled thing

Those were exactly the design goals.

its a better game i feel than FOW infact a WAW tank battle would be more detailed yet runs faster than a fow tank battle. and be more fun.

Well, you might as well check out another forum/website. If you look around there, you'll find plenty of inspiring stuff for both, World at War and the forthcoming Modern Combat.

You are welcome. See it as compensation for all the complaining

Wish I could have hit this thread sooner, but I'd still like to add this to the excellent replies already seen...

BF:Evo WAW is very easy to learn the rules, but very unforgiving of tactical mistakes if your opponent is as aggressive as most of the ones in my area are.

Try this test - Send a squad out into the open within 10" of any MG in the game. Now, go pay the points to get a new squad.

This of course, is what makes this game system really shine...

The reactions, and the strategic/tactical depth provided by the traits and abilities of the units you choose. It truly is a game where the difficulty is determined more by your opponent's savvy and tactical brilliance, than by the rules.

Well done Mongoose, well done. 8)

Well, you have to spread the word then. Make those people know what they miss.

I would go and demo every convention and wargamer-club in my area myself if I just wouldn't have to work those damn shifts

I wish i could find out if the game is difficult.
Still awaiting arrival of my book

it depends on what you consider to be "difficult" :?:

while I don't find the rules to be difficult, the game itself is quite "tactically" challenging.

you will find yourself having to think a little more than some games, which is what I like about it. :!:
