Hi guys,

We have just received the first production samples for wave 2. We would be interested to hear what you think!

These look good!

And the bases are not as orange either, if these are what ships, I'll be very happy with them.

Thanks Matt,
Lee

Better! I'm really glad the Feadyene are that good. I was worried the (head scarves? Forgive my ignorance) would blow goats. These are definitely the best pre-painted minis on the market. And no googley eyes. Now show the Marines!

Matt, these are definitely shaping up! Quite usable as-is, but I might want to toss a thinned-down ink wash on them just to "dirty" them up. I wish the camo pattern was a little more defined (as in a smaller pattern), but overall I'm not going to nitpick these as there has to be a limit in mass production of "time on task" in painting camo on little figures. The fleshtones btw look very good and the black trim on the bases isn't "jumping" up and spilling over the top as in previous samples. For an "open the box and play" army these are looking up, sir.

Those Brits look better than the first wave samples. I'm happy I decided to stay with the game. Pays to have a little faith.

Yeah, there's a marked improvement there. The camo patterns look good, but the faces still need work. Not that that's much of a problem on they Feyadeen. Are there any pics of the Technicals?

Now these are the level of painting I expected in the first place. Not brilliant, but not too basic either.

I will be very happy at this level of finished product.

These are nice, but I was already okay with the quality of the EFTF, PLA, and MEA paint schemes, despite the hubbub made over the previous wave.

However, the US paint scheme was atrociously bad and I'd really like to see a picture of them before I make a decision to buy big into BFE again.

These look much better! Is it me or did you guys do something to the helmet detail on the Brits? That always bugged me but it looks OK now. My only little gripe is that the second Brit seems to have his webbing in flat grey rather than the greenish-tannish grey of the first model, but that might be due do lighting.

If the miniatures are going to be consistently of this quality I'll be a happy puppy :D

Much much better. As long as the prepainted minis stay at this quality or better I think most players will be more than satisfied.

They are fine, I'd by them, but not wave 1. Looks like you guys turned a potential chernobyl into a 3 mile island. :)
Seriously, they look better than clicks or that rackham game.
I only read the thread about what happened yesterday, and the Wave 1 figs put me off, but now I'm back again.

But your positive they'll be like this right?
It would suck if it turned out the models would get worse again...

This is what we are being told - I won't put them on our main site until we are double sure though.

These paint jobs to look simpler than the preproduction examples shown first time around. They should be able to meet this standard this time, and if not it's time to find a new factory.

ok, well good for you matt for asking for opinions.

Wave 2, def look better.

ive tried to do camo patterns befor and their frustrating at best, normaly i reserve them for special units.

so these minis in my opinion are better than i would have painted them if they came as bits of grey plasti.

infact the faces are better done than the majority of sst figures players have posted pics of in the past.

the first wave were funny, but then they are the basic troops, and to be honest in larg armies i put little effort into basic troops, so they were acceptable to me, wave 2 are the more special bits, so deserve the better schemes, and i think these will sell wave 1 as people will go wow at wave 2, then get wave 1 to fill out their armies.

as for bases, well il be repainting them either in urban or grass land.

all in all matt, there brilliant, and it would be an honour to own minis this well detailed in any collection.

The problem is that pre-production minis have almost always shown better quality then production level minis, for the simple reason that the manufacturing plant wants to impress you enough for you to use them. Once they've got money, contracts, and have to assembly-line the models the 'true' quality of the production models come out. I'm not ranting, but I think that's what we saw for the Wave 1 models, they wanted to impress you to get your business, then once they had money they tried to cut their profits as little as possible, thus the reduction in production quality, (and I sincerely hope there is an improvement in the production quality from the first run and the second run of the Wave 1 models, since I won't be buying until there is.)

I just hope that this does not happen again with the wave 2 figures. If so, I think I speak for a large amount of your customer base that we'd prefer you find yourself a production team that is not going to bait-and-switch on us, and take the time and delay to make sure in the quality of the final production run models.

Well you can assume after this last debacle, Mongoose may want to alter the contract to include more rights to deny.

While no one besides the mongoose people know the extext of the factory contract, I'm pretty sure there were some big changes made since then.

Ah this is more like it. In all honesty I didnt really expect the production ones to be QUITE as good as the original previews but wave 1 was just not up to par, I was expecting something more along the lines of these and assuming these are the actual standard that go on sale I will happily purchace these.

Given that, is there any possibily of the wave 1 box sets going out at a slight discount? I know youve got to make a profit and have no doubt already payed for the shipment but it just seems to me that your gonna have an even harder time shifiting the 1st wave at full price if the next batch is so much better :P

These seem to be improving from Wave 1, certainly. If that had looked this good, there's have been only half the complaints :P

OTOH if Wave 2 won't be this good in practice, one expects double the complaints (at least). So it's a bit of toss-up if this preview be a good thing or not until the actual product pix hit the 'net...
