Victory Class, Excalibur

My friend and I were talking about the Victory class warship. We wanted to know if there were any plans, since there now is Crusade era ships, to do alternative stats for the Excalibur since it became an exploration ship as well as a war ship?

Well its not exactly breaking news ;) the Psi corps list has been hinted at for a while now (theyre also getting the shadow omega an shadow hunter (the shadows go back to being PROPER shadows, (and about time too ;))

the excalibur is getting no new stats, but it is being included as a unique ship for the EA so they can use one victory as they now have no other armageddon ships having the nemesis stolen from them and the warlock back to war.

So the Crusade fleet is now

War
Posiedon (Carrier and Command deck - supposedly much enhanced between new statline and option of Starfury Firebolt)
Command Omega (Battleship and Command deck - much improved as of S&P article. Large fighter complement but non-carrier)
Warlock (Pure shipkiller with little or no Command ability. Main beam probably no more powerful but picks up range and triple damage)

Armageddon
0-1 Victory Class Destroyer

Interesting - and kind of logical. The EA's 'big bad' moves up one level each era; from Orestes (battle) to command omega (war - ok the warlock is here two but I always thought that shuld have been crusade only) to victory (armageddon)

Yep this is much more like it though its worth noting that the EA by this list dont have an armageddon ship except the Victory which is an ISA ship on loan. Personally I think this is just about how it should be (I never liked the idea of any of the younger races except MAYBE the Minbari, and VERY VERY maybe the Centauri getting an Armageddon level ship at all (I dont count shadow EA, ISA or Drakh as younger races as they all are basically using first one tech ;)

Why would the Warlock be Crusade only?

The Crusade fleet represents the fleet after the events of ACtA (the tv movie). The Warlock entered service immediately at the end of the original series. Therefore it has a place in the Third Age list (which covers that era).

The Heavy Particle Cannon on the Warlock is already Triple Damage...

Even earlier, end of Season 4...it was in service during the show's main run!

Grrr, why take the Nemesis out of the EA fleet?

While the idea of putting together a "Black Ops" fleet with Psycorps and the shadow tech ships is cool, it means we will be in the strange situation where we now have 4 variant fleet lists for a single race. :?

I don't know if it is too late to change this but I think EA should keep an Armageddon level ship of its own in the Crusade era fleet. EA has an (over-)abundance of Armaggedon ships currently but apparently it is about to lose them all and have borrow one from the ISA instead.

Are we not allowed to have decent War level and Armaggeddon level ships in the same list?

1) The nemesis was and still is poo.

2) No ship the EA build in ANY era even close to the show thats not riddled with shadowtech (like the Nemesis) should be BETTER than Sharlin. The idea that the EA can withing the crusade timescale, build, on their own a ship that is an euqal match for Vorlon Heavy cruiser is just dumb really if you think about it....

3) Well I personally was never a big fan of slitting the fleet lists up like was done I must admit, thats what in service dates are for surely, they you can CHOOSE to do a fleet from a certain era theme if you want but arent forced too (like you can do league, or signle league race etc). Still you have to look at it really, if you put ALL the EA ships in one list it would be gigantic and there would be about 2/3 of the ships that would probably rarely get used. Would also be harder to blance. (Marathons backed up by Sagittarius with some Avenger carriers full of T-Bolts and cheap oracle scouts anyone, with some Novas in the middle too?)

Yer basically the split in fleet lists is rather ummm......well we had in service dates for that.

But tourneys are an important factor too. And its kinda hard to balance one offs. ANd for that the split is a really good thing.

Heck i dont wanna face Marathons and Sag combos....

Oh and i really love the fact, that stuff gets moved back where it actually belongs to. Warlock, woohoo backt o being a good useful ship. Not that it was bad at armageddon, but how often do you play war/armageddon lvl games compared to raid/Battle lvl ones......

An Avenger shouldn't be able to carry T-bolts.

I believe that they were all destroyed during the EM war, as were Novas and Orestes.

Unless the timeline has been altered from what I know.

the best thing for EA players is, wait until you see the war level warlocks stats - it wont disapoint.

Well Im all for it being good but Im hoping they havent gone over the top, it was just about right in the tourney list imho, much better and Id start to think 'hmmm slightly over the top' :P

Well....it's now a balancing act - it sits directly opposite the uprated command omega; I suspect a vastly curtailed (potentially absent) command bonus; and focusing instead on slappyness....

Without that it might justify a slight boost, at the expense of initiative (a big deal for the relatively low initiative, high-priority, boresight-happy later eras of the EA fleet)

People then have to choose between a command omega (lower power - slightly - but your command bonus is ensconced in a durable hull) or a warlock - where any command bonus needs to be on a second, smaller hull (or a second warship at extreme expense), such as an avenger, or the uber-fragile command hyperion.
