USSR vs. USA- alternate 3rd world war reality.

Just an idea for a cold war gone hot scenario where the USSR never fell and all out war breaks out in Europe. Y'know good old fashioned USA vs. Damn commie Soviets in the 1980s. Just use USMC stats but without the land warrior advantages. And have PLA forces stats but replace there guns with AKs from the MEA. And lots and lots of TANKS!

umm, guys,he did say "in the eighties",meaning not that totally impossible scenario of USSR surviving to this day
The Russian fleet wouldn't look as bad as it does now...
sure,it most likely would look just like US fleet-smouldering,radioactive wrecks
but the idea is cool. you could even incorporate the Pewee from SST to simulate that whatitsname handheld nuke West had

Got the idea from this upcoming real time stragety game for the PC - http://www.worldinconflict.com/main/

And yes, I did mean for this scenario to take place sometime in the 80s.

My statement stands.

:D

Now, are we assuming that both sides have decided to keep this a conventional fight or do I have to explain the Germany scenario?

Ah, the birth of the term "Nuke 'em 'til they glow, and them shoot 'em in the dark!" .

Worth remembering though that Soviet plans for a war in Central Europe had them using nukes and chem/bio weapons from the outset. Hope there's some good CBRN rules out there :D

No...let the main group of their forces in, nuke behind them and kill the trapped reminants

Yes, and the glow is excellent behind those trapped forces to illuminate for targetting, heh. Just remember to wear your auto-shade goggles!

OT: Reminds me of a time my dad did his service and he was suppoused to fire one of these large flares, that you put in the ground, rocket-like thing. Anyway, my dad aims the flare/rocket and lights the fuse, however, the flare hits a tree only a few metres away and puts it on fire.

"Well, at least we can see," said one of my dad's friends.
"Yeah, but the point was that we would see the enemy, not the other way around," replied my dad's squad leader.

At the end of it the tree was nothing more than a pile of ash

Sorry folks, the Democrats would not let us fight this!!! :?

yeah, pesky peace loving democrats. If say, the US had to fight a massive war, on multiple front, against say, Germany and Austria or say, Germany and Japan... let us call them the central powers and the axis to just come up with some terms.. we'd be screwed with a democrat in charge :)

America couldn't fight Japan now, the war would be over the minute Toyota and Hiyundai press their red buttons and every affordable car in America goes Decepticon on you.

The US counterstrike would be brief as the brave US autobots staged a massively destructive assault which far outguns and outclasses the smaller Japanese models.

Unfortunately this would stall approximately three miles down the road before they can reach the next gas station.

:)

I am also suspicious of the Nintendo Wii and Dolphins, but that's another story altogether.
