Using BFE rules with non-mongoose minis.

If it is something mongoose won't be making for at least a year then I feel substantially less guilty about it. Or something they may never make, like mercs.
The problem I will have is finding 25mm bases that aren't slottas without going down the tuppence as a base route. Probably best to go for washers or something like that. As the Evo bases aren't the tall slotta type bases that make them look out of scale with the tanks.

oo thats made me think if i produced some latex bases for the game at right dimensions would you guys be interested ?

washers cost more than 2p each though !!!

LOL!

Circles cut out of thickish card would be the best option I can think of - I just measured a base at 22mm and I can't find those *anywhere*.

22mm hmm well a 2pence piece is suposed to measure about 25mm metric wise, and the 1 pound coin is 22mm but there way to thick and exspensive to use !!!!

maybe some tube with a ID of 22mm and then file the inside edges so you can use it to punch discs out of plasticard !!!1 seems like effort to me though.

think id do 3 then make some casts.

Here is my take for what it is worth,

Demos even if you are not an MI.
Try and use only Mongoose stuff.

Play at home,
Knock yourself out, do what ever you want to do, it is your home.

Open play at a store,
If you are not using all or any Mongoose stuff, just let the folks peeking at what you are doing know that, and where the stuff is in the store.

I really like the idea using BFEvo rules for Star Wars, and will show it off in the store as well.

Why?

I know a lot of folks who have the figs, but want a better game set, also if they like the rules, better chance to get them into the full BFEvo.

For Tourneys, its Mongoose stuff, maybe a leader or two from some one else, but it is Mongoose's show.

I too will have a few figs from elsewhere that are not yet, or may never be made my Mongoose.

As I really like the udea of painting a few figs to a high standard and then playing quickly.

Now if only I could get that Advanced Rule Book and some figs.

Good Gaming all

Yeah, playing SW:Evo has assured that at least one (hopefully three) people in my club will be buying into BF:Evo.
It works very well with the Evo rules.

If the rules are good we will play them at home or down at the FLGS. However its already been decided by our group we will not be using Mongooses figs. The scale they decided to produce does not match anything any of us currently owns (woulda been cool back in the late 80s or early 90s though). Do I feel guilty over this... not even remotely. Would I buy boatloads if they were a bit bigger and matched the current market... you bet. BFEvo is closer to a historical game than a Sci fi/ Fantasy game. Historical gamers are used to having to go to different companies to purchase figures and the driving factors are almost always cost, quality, and are they scaled to what is already owned. BGWWII wasw easily one of the best WWII skirmish rules and look how it went for EEE when they made their own line of figs (in a completely diffenrent scale than what was already out there). For those that dont know they are long gone now.

Fow went for 15mm while majority of markt is 20mm, and there doing amazing.

the fact you can use shop bought toycars and train bits for scenery, opens this to a larger market than it would possably do in traditional heroic outascale sizes.

Over here in the states 15mm WWII (28 for skirmish) has been the majority for awhile Evil. Maybe thats why its doing so amazing eh? Couple that with outstanding support (both online and off), continous releases, excellent models, and effective marketting and its no wonder they are successful. Store bought cars and train bits are already available for the other scales so dont really increase or open a larger market.
