You may remember this photo from the Battle Report where my marines took on Mike's (Dorb) MEA
Sgt Scream did :!:
Sgt. Scream said:
@dsfrank:I just recently ordered three of Rackhams game sets with those containers. I really thought (like you) they will need their paintjob done new all over them. I was thinking of a dented, scratched, weathered look. May I ask you for some detail shots (pics) of your containers?
Here you go Sgt Scream...
I'm not too interested in AT-43 (but I could be persuaded - the figs are 28mm - big :8) )
I dig the Accessory pack #2 with barricades and 2 shipping containers - here are the official product shots;
I got 2 of the boxes with the orange container and one of the other - for 6 containers total
I'm considering more to make a freight yard...
(Except that one container isn't tall enough to conceal a warrior antenna - which could be a problem

)
I can't explain why I took so many pics of my red ones - just got shutter happy.
I couldn't put orange containers of the table so I spray painted them - Red-Oxide Primer ($0.99 @ Wal-Mart)
Then - hit the decal bits box to find some markings for the containers
Once they are decaled up - I hit them with a coat of dip - then a coat of dull coat to cut the gloss
Finally they got some "Boltgun Metal" drybrushing - especially on the edges - corners and hinge areas to represent scrapes and scratches
Above - Shot of the back end of the red twins - one tagged with Cyrillic Graffiti - to give them a lived in look
Below the front side and several other shots w/ Mea troops to give some idea of size
The bottom gray one was spray painted Equipment Grey Primer (again $0.99 @ Wally World)
The top one was not spray painted - I just painted over the AT-43 Mega-Corp logos on all 3 sides
Looking at real containers you can see ares of different shades where a previous owner's markings are painted over w/o repainting the whole container
The #10 in the circle is from a 1/12 racing car - I just wanted to see if it'd pass as just a container ID - looks ok to me
Notice the "Dip" along the bottom edge where it pooled - looks pretty cool on the table
For the blue ones - again I just painted over the logos of the AT-43 markings - and added a few random cover spots in a different shade
I wanted to put the majority of the markings on the doors for a realistic look
I also wanted the making so look worn and old - did some drybrushing of the main color on some - scratched off the decals in spots on others - all in all I'm quite pleased with the results
did markings on the back and top - tired to put the markings in the same place (pretty much) on all sides
