Unit Actions

Two Actions:
Shoot
Ready
Move
Charge

When I have a model in the unit that needs to be "readied", then that counts as one of the actions for the entire unit?
So my SAW readies, first action for unit
then everyone fires, second action for unit

You cannot ready the SAW, fire the unit as first action.
Then fire everyone as your second action.

Is this correct?
thnx.
GFP OUT

Correct. though in the advanced rules there's a few options for things to do with the "wasted" ready action on the rest of your squad.

Seems to me its not really worth readying a saw if you have to sacrafice your entire squad's fire action unless the enemy is still a good distance away.Like mentioned earlier in the post the advanced rules should develop the ready action hopefully.

Apart from doubling it's (the SAW/Minimi) attack dice in every turn until it moves (forward arc only, admittedly), and doubling the number of dice it counts as for suppression purposes, no not really worth it at all

def worth doing, in one game 2 set up saw's reacted killing a 8 man squad all bar one guy due to los and distance he was in cover. nothing in the infantry sence can get close to such a set up unit great for defending buildings. worth their weight in gold defensivly. the GL's are better in assault.

Sarcasm works here but not on the battlefield table. Unless you like being suppressed or ordance meat while you are setting up your weapon. Me and it might sound like sound tactics (insert sarcasm here), I would rather fire some weapons and find a place of concealment from that big ole tank.

Cheers!

Unless I am sorely mistaken (and I know we addressed this on another topic somewhere) the SAW/Minimi get those extra AD until the model moves (not the unit, the card is specific here). With a 12" command area, the ready becomes a bit more tactically sound.

Like I said in my original post, readying the saw is all good and great if you get the opportunity, but I'm not sacraficing the entire squads action when I have the chance too shoot twice or shoot and grab some cover. So far we have played in nothing but a urban setting. Anyone that camped in cover got suppressed or outright killed by ordnance or machine gun fire.

You are correct about about the procedure of setting up the saw. In my 4 games hasn't worked yet. Not sure why the entire unit must ready and lose its action just because of the saw other than gameplay purposes.

Correct. Rest of the squad can move as much as they wish and it won't remove the bonus effect of machine gun as long as that model stays there.

Sounds a bit like you are waiting to long to deploy the SAW do it earlier and make them come to you. It's also important to set your minis in the right order to avoid the death of the gunners. Get your lackeys up front to absorb the incoming fire. If you don't split the squad into fireteams you have 6 guys to absorb fire before they can hit your SAWs or commanders. Then when you get to shoot back, SAWs can utterly devestate an enemy force.

I'll give it a whirl, if opportunity presents itself. :D
