UN and NATO - Question about the WORLD OF BFE.

I was thinking of this scenario in which China acts as UN 'peacekeepers' as an excuse to be deployed in several world hotspots. Y'know, evil UN commies vs. US World Police, lol.

Lol, perhaps I need to rephrase my question - IN the WORLD (timeline, future, universe, continium, etc.) of Battlefield Evolution does the United Nations and NATO still exist?

This is a purely backstory/fluff question. Nothing to do with the present day real world so please keep the politics out.

Anyway, so far there I haven't seen anything suggesting that the UN and NATO have dissolved, though the newspaper does give you that feeling if you wish to go that route.

Well the newspaper did mention a US jets shooting down a Brit plane. Sounds like a clear violation of NATO, if NATO does in fact still exist. Appears that, in this world, NATO's been replaced by the EFTF. The newspaper also mentioned something about Brussels and Bejieng calling on the FORMER United Nations for sanctions.

Also, despite modern technology the whole fratricide thing still happens.

Mostly this is an unintentional occurence but I'm sure that throughout history it has occurred with malice and forethought more than once. Modern numbers (I'm not glorifying or shrugging off these happenings) are ridiculously low compared to that of just a few decades ago. Some of the fratricide numbers from WWII are unbelievable.

I thought NATO was going to an 'everybody's welcome' policy?

As far as the UN goes I've talked with several guys that have served on their details and they seem to never get the OK to return fire despite ridiculous levels of incomming.
