Mongoose
Hi,

I don't know how many of them other people have found, but the more I read the books (any of them) the more I find.

Last night while having a look at magic of glorantha I realise two things:

- Eurmal is spelled Erumal in the book in the section about heroquesting.

- But the other thing that really got to me was in the example of draconic evolution or however is it called that mentions that the character could be seem to have scales under moonlight (or something like that). The point I'm making is that there is no moon in the second age,

The point I'm making is that I keep finding these things that make me think that they have no proofreaders and gets me a bit annoyed.

What other things have you people found? And please leave the combat inconsistencies out.

Oh no! It's no mistake! If we just spell it Erumal in all the books, people will think it's a conscious decision to change the name, NOT a spelling mistake...

Just wait and see. Erumal will be his new name from now on.

SGL.

There are really two issues you touch upon.

One is the editing in general, which I have found to be a mixed bag from book to book.

The other is that the proofreaders/editors are just not nearly as familiar with Glorantha as most fans of the world are - or even the RQ rules in some cases. They have sorta acknowledged this and said they are taking steps to improve the situation. But then there was the long dry period with no books.

So we shall see what happens, there is no shortage of books coming out over the next couple of months.

It is also worth pointing out that Magic of Glorantha so far was the only Gloranthan book written by a Mongoose house writer who was not already an established Gloranthan writer (and actually overall I think it bodes well for what their writers can do) - all the upcomming Gloranthan releases are by Mongoose staff writers. Either way it will be interesting to see how Players Guide, UZ, Clanking City, and Jrustela turn out.

Everyone has a word or two that they say slightly wrong. They know what it is, they know what it should be, but it comes out that way each time anyway.

Eurmal is one of mine, and I typed it the way I say it. A guy I know called Joel always calls Mitra 'Mistra' in-game. God, that's annoying.

The perils of trying to write cool lines. My bad, wasn't thinking.

I think I just saw a ghost.

P.S. they must not be working you hard enough in the Land of Ice and Snow.

Well I have an idea for the mongoose people: send a full preview to a few fans before the release and let them check for mistakes. Sort of a Beta version of the books. Collect the comments/corrections and make the changes before you release to the public.

In payment you could give free books. I think you could easily get 20 to 30 people without much cost to the company and it would improve on all those things that keep coming up.

My pet peeve is the misspelling of Anadikki (since I'll be running a game set there). Of course, it's spelled wrong in some of the earlier sources too...
