Good news! Fantasy Flight Games has just picked up the licence for Games Workshops stuff. They will be supporting the Warhammer and Dark Heresy games as well as Talisman and the Sabertooth card games.

Sometimes, people listen.

I'd be hesitant to call that "good news" given FFG's track records with RPGs (after an initial burst of supplements Blue Planet v2 sank without trace under their ownership. I don't even think they admitted to letting it go, they just ignored it completely). But we'll see.

I was thinking of their Twilight Imperium RPG.... One book, mentions a supplement to come, and then.... nothing. Not even mentioned on their site anymore.

Personally I think FFG grabbed the license for the cardgames and boardgames (which they do tend to focus on anyway). I think the RPG side will just evaporate.

Though really, I just want my DH book. Stupid slow international shipping!

It's big, pretty, and a decent read.

Most of the information is replicated from Inquisitor, tho.

Mechanically, it's WFRP2E with a few mods.

I may have to give WFRP 2E a second look.

Even it that is the case, this is still great news. Space Hulk, anyone? 8)

DH is a great book and I agree with AKA, if you are familiar with WFRP2e you will find the mechanics familiar. I could see FF keeping both RPG's going - they just published some new Midnight material.

FFG dop not have the licence to any games that involve miniatures. No Space Hulk and no Bloodbowl. Only bord games, CCG's and RPG's. It's all in the announcements.

True! However, as a big box fan of FF for years, Space Hulk would fit right in with their other games and it's early yet in the relationship. I could see this still happening with the door now open...

Funny enough, but two of my three editions of Blood Bowl lacked minis in the box, using cardstock standups instead.

I still don't think of BB as a Minis game.

And I would truly rather see a board-game version by FFG than another minis-sans-support by GW.

From recent calls for freelance RPG writers on their website, I think FFG may be planning something of a resurgence in the RPG market. I can only imagine their recent lack of RPG products is down to a lack of profitability compared to their boardgames and CCGs. However, they seem to be giving 4th Edition a spin (from the tone of their writer requests), time will only tell if they intend to put serious support behind their GW RPG properties.

I hope they support WFRP and DH. It would suck if they just let they lay dead in the water when companies like Green Ronin were after the license for them.
