Transit Times table from CRB.

Hi,

This is where I embarrass myself my displaying my ignorance of space physics...

In my copy of the Traveller Core Rulebook (2e), on page 153, there is a table titled "Transit Times". The first column is Distance (km) which is OK so far. But the remaining columns are headed "1G 2G 3G 4G 5G".

For arguments sake, assume that some players have a Scout/Courier with a full cargo hold (12 tons) and they decide they want to cover a certain distance - say 150,000,000 km - can the Transit Times table be used to figure out this problem? Is acceleration of 2G equivalent to a Thrust of 2?

BTW, the table titled "Common Distances for Traders" is very useful :)

Thanks :)

Yes. The table also assumes acceleratio pn for the first half of the trip, and them decel for the 2nd half, so from a complete stop to a complete stop (relative to whatever you took off from).

For travel times, the ships M Drive rating equals is acceleration in Gs. For simplification, combat rules ignore this and use the m drive rating as a fixed maximum speed. Both rules also ignore whether your cargo hold and your fuel tank are full or empty. None of it is the least bit accurate per the laws of physics, but it is all just to make the game easier to play.

Hope that helps.
