I'm not sure whether this or the other roleplaying games forum is the appropriate forum for this topic. I reckon that as I want to run an adventure set in twenties/thirties USA with that sort of Howard feel about it that the Conan forum might be the best place to get feedback.
I had just finished reading Trails in Darkness, I switched on the television and there was a movie on channel 5 called "Last of the Dogmen". The basic premise was that a group of cheyenne's had found sanctuary in a hidden valley high in the Rockie mtns. There they lived in their traditional way until they were discovered by Tom Berenger who had been hired to track down some escaped criminals.
I thought to myself that there could be a Howardesque tale in there if it was changed to Montana in the 1920's and a supernatural element added.
The supernatural element I am thinking about is the Wendigo as portrayed in the movie "Ravenous". How to string it all together and how to portray the Wendigo is causing a few headaches.
Does anyone know anything about the geography of Montana, the name of the state penitentiary and its location, or the name of a small community in the mountains that could serve as the starting location?
Vincent, it seems that you are very knowledgeable about the first nation's. In Across the Thunder river you make reference to hanging a kill in the branches of a tree to avoid the notice of the hungry spirit of the forest. Is this a reference to the Wendigo and if so how would you portray it in this setting?
I have possession of OGL Wild West and intend to run the game using that system.
Thanks guys, all comments and suggestions gratefully plagiarised.
