Tower of the Elephant - tower dimensions?

Ok, another map question...

I'm just wondering what people used for the overall dimension (diameter) of the tower?

I looked through the whole module and once again could not find anything resembling a map scale. Very annoying.

The Conan adventure maps all lack scale, from what I've seen. You can calculate the circumference based on the information in the module though. It is noted therein that it takes the guards a certain amount of time to circle the outer ring, so you can take that time (X minutes) and typical walking speed (Y distance / minutes) to figure out the circumference.

Wow, you've really given this some thought!
The only stat I can remember is that REH said that the tower was 150 ft. high, correct?

With some quick math, this comes out to a diameter of about 450-500 ft (the actual calc is 477).

That makes its diameter greater than its height! :?

"Listen to him!" he shouted jeeringly. "The barbarian is an eagle who would fly to the jeweled rim of the tower, which is only a hundred and fifty feet above the earth, with rounded sides slicker than polished glass!"

---TotE, DelRey, p. 63.

I would go with a diameter betw. 40-50 ft.

I drew my own maps of the tower and used a diameter of 60 feet. This made the rooms nicely sized when drawn up on a combat-grid with 5-feet squares.

IIRC, I also scaled down the height of the tower a little just to make it slightly more plausible to be able to throw a rope up there (didn't really matter as my PCs went in from below, though).

I used the following maps (with scale!) for my own adaptation of the adventure:

http://hyboria.xoth.net/adventures/toe_map3.jpg

Note that these maps are originally from a WotC Greyhawk product (if I remember correctly, it's Tenser's castle, of all things!), but the general size and layout seemed to fit nicely.

Funny, seems perfect but for the 5th floor outer balcony.

In the Marvel comic version, there is actually a balcony that Conan and Taurus ascend to, before Taurus gets eaten by a giant spider.

I guess it depends on how you picture the tower, e.g., the dimensions of the room with the spider, etc.
