Thinking about buying into the EFTF

Napar

Mongoose
I'm thinking about starting with the EFTF and then maybe USMC.

I'm looking at ordering the following to start with.

1X EFTF British Army Command Section
3X EFTF British Army Infantry Section
2X EFTF British Army Challenger II MBT

Let me know what you think. Also if you know a good place to order on-line for a good deal.... please PM me with that.

Thanks for the input!

Fixed it! The last one was suppose to be the EFTF British Army Challenger II MBT. But I forgot to copy and then paste the new one.

Sounds good, although you might want to get another couple of warriors later, and some SAS and future lynx *LOL*

By Warriors are you talking about another command unit?

Another question would be are 3 units of troop too many not enough or a good start. Would you change any of this around?

ok if your looking for a good start id take this in consideration by mid month every body will be playing by rule book so:

1 comand per 2k
only one tank per 2 infantry units
every unit can have a warrior.

id sugest

2 command with the warriors
2 infantry units
1 chally.

then add another 2 infantry units and a second chally later.

no point having more challys than you can use.

also a EFTF platoon is max 4 infantry units so getting 4 brit squads will allow you to feild a full platoon, and as time goese on give each unit a warior.

another good idea would be to go 2 challies 1 brit squad and a command section, as an armoured force has a min of 2 challys and for every 2 challys you can take an infantry squad but it must be mounted in a warrior. so that shopping ist would be

1 comand with warrior
1 brit infantry squad
2 challys

looking at your list you have put up you can cover both my sugestions so its not to bad a choice and woudl give you variety, but in both cases you could do it cheaper by deciding on an armoured force or an infantry force.

hope that helps

.

2X EFTF British Army Command Section (includes warrior)
2X EFTF British Army Infantry Section
2X EFTF British Army Challenger II MBT

this allows 3 army lists plus alterations

infantry list (Alpha)

1 comand

4 (half) infantry squads (ie 4 teams of 4 men)

2 warriors

2 challengers

infantry list (beta)

1 comand

2 infantry squad

2 warriors

1 Chally

Armoured list

2 challys (1 is command)

1 infantry unit with warrior

would cost th same as what you listed originaly but hit more buttons and make a good legal army.

Dang that means I either need another 2 tanks (might consider getting a 3rd challie and a Leopard) or 2 more infantry (and warriors)

I currently have
2 Inf squads
2 Challies
and 2 Warriors + Command on their way if Dancing Dryad ever decide to post my order *GRRR* they finally started to process it yesterday and still haven't posted it yet according to the website.

Think I will go the tank route as its cheaper.

Thank you, thats was what I needed to know.

It's tough to buy when you have know idea what will be a legal list. I had a few extra dollars this month and thought I'd knock out what I could and get a head start.

Thanks again Evil!

For a "starter set" I'd go:
1X EFTF British Army Command Section
1x EFTF Warrior
3X EFTF British Army Infantry Section
1X EFTF British Army Challenger II MBT

If you're on a tight budget, save your money for the rulebook/SAS/Lynx and take the time to play a few games with them to find out what you like before buying anything else. If you've got a bit to spare, I'd grab a 2nd warrior/command combo set and another Challenger.

they are support

some forces can have 1 support for every squad, it will make more sence in a few weeks time when we all have the rule book in hand, ie thats why im not gonna try exsplain it for every faction :D

what ya talkin about willis :D

EFTF

Infantry

Squad: Minimum two units, maximum four units
Support: One unit per Squad unit chosen
Command: Up to one unit
Armour: Up to one unit per two Squad units
Transport: Up to one unit per Squad unit
Air: Up to one unit per 1,500 points

Armoured

Squad: Up to one unit per two Armour units
Support: One unit per Armour unit chosen
Command: Up to one unit
Armour: Minimum two units, maximum four units
Transport: Mandatory one unit per Squad unit
Air: Up to one unit per 1,500 points

This was pre rule book, but im sure rule book will prety much be the same.

Armoured list

2 challys (1 is command)

1 infantry unit with warrior

that list doesn't work, cos once you buy the command upgrade for the Chally it becomes a command choice, not an armour one. You have to have 2 non-command challies to take an infantry squad.

is that buy rule book or playtest rules though ?

if its by rule book thats a shame as challys work in 4 tank units always in pairs.

It's according to the playtest rules, but I can't see them changing it for the main rules - otherwise you could take a command tank and a command section in an armoured platoon

Wouldn't the command tank become the command choice? This would make sense to me.... It keeps you to the 1 command max.

Also in an armoured choice does the command unit (if not a tank  ) have to take a warrior as well?

well in tht case take a second command section and stick them in the warrior for your tank platoon.

simple, still means list i of minis i suggested an make many different types of orce, the brits with wave 1 and 2 are very flexable.

I can field either a minimun strengh Infantry or Armoured force with

2 Infantry
2 Challies
2 Warriors with command squads.

Would still like to know if armoured command squads need to have a warrior... not that it really matters as they will have one when my figs finally arrive :)
