The Stellaris pirate cruiser, or how would you build a mixed planetoid/metal hull?

Looks modular, with a mix of dispersed structure and planetoid modules?

Anyone messed with the rules for this? Can see a lot "which section was hit" questions that maybe an additional dice roll would resolve?

By the way, these ships have some hilarous names: https://pastebin.com/hwmC8X3i

They range from the obvious and unimaginaitive "bucket of bolts" to some really good ones like "Oh! That's a Pirate!", "Your Female Parent" and "Mental Midget".

"Ship bearing Green 5! Enough Lollygagging!"

Call the planetoid sections Pods and make e.g. a 10 kDt Dispersed ship with 5 pods of 1 kDt for a total of 15 kDt.

Or simpler, a straight percentage: x% Dispersed properties and (1-x)% Planetoid properties.

I could see a Highport evolving into something like this. Start with a planetoid then add dispersed structures for docking points and cargo modules. Modular hulls get added as the Highport grows for living quarters, services, entertainment, etc.

Or the other way around. The original Highport is a traditional station design. Then the local belters move a planetoid in, maybe for easy exploitation or because there’s a lot of hollowed-out volume that the station could use. Then another and another...

The comet chunks brought to the smelting module are bored out and all the usable material is sent to the processing system. The empty husks of rock serve on as growth modules for more workers and equipment.
