the Russians...

Mongoose
will the Russians be introduced some time in the future as a seperate faction....or will they be part of the European Federation...

A seperate Russian faction is pretty much a given. However it won't happen any time soon since Mongoose is focusing on filling out the 4 factions that are currently here.

I'm also looking forward to the Russians since I'd like to see how Mongoose handles the Russians, and how the US forces match up to them.

I mean, after all that cold war business, it'd be nice to finally see a straight up fight. ;P

From Signs & Protents #37:
We are not, at this time, planning any new armies
in 2007 for Battlefield Evolution, as we want to
properly flesh out the existing ones before starting
to spread our gaze elsewhere. That said, we have
already sketched out lists for Russian and IDF
forces, and the idea for an ‘African Warlord’ army
has also been raised. Whether we proceed with
these ideas or not will be pretty much up to you,
so be sure to log in regularly to our forums and
make your voice heard when we start asking for
comments on the game!

We must have Russians, the only reason I have preordered PLA is because there are no Russians and I plan on playing this game as soon as possible.

IDF would also be nice and I hope those come out soon as well. With African forces I just hope that Mongoose does not go in the all Warlord and Insurgent direction. A good mix of Warlord forces, militia, and regulars would more properly represent the situation in Africa and give that faction a good vibe. Similar to the MEA but still a good structure for a faction.

I was very suprised to see the initial 4 armies didn't have Russia, however China is a bigger threat these days.

If Evo still uses the platoon system from SST, in an African force I'd like to see regular platoons and mob/militia platoons. They should be able to buy Al Quida support as assets, a la black hawk down and the current situation in Darfour.

The IDF would be similar to the US, with a higher number of troops, but no landwarrior. They'd have unique ground vehicles, but the air support would be F-15s and F-16s bought from the US. Could be a fun army.

Nigeria acting as a police force within the AU is not suprising. There has been an idea floating around for some time in some circles about putting failing African nations into recievership to the more stable African nations such as Nigeria, South Africa, Egypt, etc. Basically recolonize them until more stable forms of government and powersharing can be put into place and solidified. The fact that Nigeria is considered stable within Africa sometimes astounds me, as there are serious ethnic problems that crop up from time to time and corruption abounds. Of course it is all a matter of perception I guess.

Stable by Africas standards. Just look at how godawful S. Africa is too. Aids, guncrime* etc.

*My father was there in the late 80's workng with a paramedic crew. And they were shot at EVERY night. At one point they had to wait outside a building for a killer ot leave so they could see if the injured inside were alive or dead. Not nice at all.
