The Best and Worst War Level Ships

Mongoose
Continuing Humbaba's theme, I've extended my look into War PL ships. Here is where things start to get a little harder to interpret as many of these ships have more elements of working with a fleet, and can be better or worse in the arena of a Raid PL game (more often than not a bit worse). I'm curious to see what your lists would be :)
(16.000 points being roughly four Raid PL ships)

Poseidon (EA) 7.8932
Mishakur (Dilgar) 8.3479
White Star Gunship (ISA) 8.6376
G’Tal (Narn) 9.0421
G’Quonth (Narn) 9.0456
Tashkat (Brakiri) 9.9749
Fireraptor (Drazi) 10.1405
Liati (Centauri) 10.6226
Mankhat (Dilgar) 10.7658
Takata (Brakiri) 11.1278
Omega Command (EA) 13.3559
Sharoos (Minbari) 13.4255
Shadow Hunter (Shadows) 13.8444
Z’Takk (Vree) 14.0067
PShul’shi (Pak’ma’ra) 14.0798
Sharkaan (Minbari) 14.2544
Neshatan (Minbari) 14.3325
Drakh Mothership (Drakh) 15.2822
Sharlin (Minbari) 15.3279
Vorlon Light Cruiser (Vorlons) 16.0200
Bin’Tak (Narn) 16.0669
Octurion (Centauri) 16.9120
G’Vrahn (Narn) 17.4911
White Star Carrier (ISA) 17.8774

There are several interesting points to come out of this. One is that the WS Gunship is actually worse than the WSC-2! (this is probably actually the case.) Command variant ships don't come out too well either (but then again we knew that too). Most of the main races have a fairly competative War PL ship with the main losers here being the League (excluding Vree), Dilgar and to a lesser degree the EA.

The ships that may not fit the analysis quite so well in a Raid PL situation are the Z'Takk and Hunter (in a larger game they will do better as they can use initiative sinks and bring their manoeuvrability to bear), the Poseidon (where its Fleet Carrier role is enhanced as the numbers of fighters increase), the Vorlon Light Cruiser (that can reliably jump out when heavily damaged) and the Drakh Mothership (where GEG worsens as the PL rises).

Bizzarrely enough, compared to the Battle-level analysis, I agree with this list almost completely. The Drakh is extremely hard to point, but, excepting that ship out, the only surprise is how low the Shadow Hunter is.

The rest appears very accurate.

Liati is piece of floating junk, that and the WS Gunship should be right at the bottom, below even Poseidon!

The Sharlin suffers though from it's breakability, If a Bin Tak can survive long enough to bring all it's weapons in range, it has enough weapon systems that something is bound to get through, and the Sharlin pops quite easily once you start hiting it, the Octurion, Like the BinTak, brings a shedload of surviveability to the battlefield, even the dreaded 6-6 crit usually only dents them!

which was why I liked the old 6-6

Surely, Hiff, the ship rolls to defeat stealth, not the individual weapons. They're all tied to the same sensor grid and targetting computers, after all...

True, but Emines ignore stealth.

not really, most ships have at best 2 weapons systems per arc, Although Big EA and Narn ships would certainly benefit

suppose it comes down to how the targetting systems work, and does manual firing really occur.
I wouldn't mind if you could "choose" manual firing against stealth, each weapon system ONLY targets with a 6 , no matter how close you are, and what scouts you have available! Pointless for say, a Chronos that happens to be 6" away, needing a 2 to lock on, but a good gamble for a G'Vrahn thats just close to 10". with what? 3 weapons systems in range (ignoring e-mines) beam, mag gun, ion torps, roll a D6 for each, IF any got a 6, your gunner can have a party! thats 3 dice, with a chance at a 6, instead of one dice for a 4... the gamble is yours to take :-)

I hope there's a mechanic for manual firing in 2nd ed... *hint*

not so far sorry! All weapons fire at Minbari is manual because weapons cannot be locked on, that is what stealth represents

not necesarily, that would mean that the Drakh manually fire better, how does a scout lock on, help you manually fire better?
