The Best and Worst Battle level ships

I know what you’re thinking… you’re thinking “how can he go on after that Raid list?” Yet here it is anyway. Here is the calculated (see previous disclaimers yadda, yadda) best and worst Battle level ships!

The Best:
1- The Carrier – Drakh (28.8)
This is assuming that it is carrying all Heavy Raiders that are most of its punch.
2- The Nightfalcon – Drazi (21.8)
Almost half of the punch comes from the fighters it carries.
3- The Omega – Earthforce TA/CE (20.4)
Well defended this seems to be a solid ship, again it is assumed to be loaded with Thunderbolts for maximum ship attack.
4- The Tertius– Centauri (18.7)
The calculations like them some Centauri – here is our first non-carrier of the list. We saw some of the calculations tendencies to over-rate carriers on the Raid list too.
5- The Marathon – Earthforce (17.5)
A bit better defended then the Tertius, but not as much punch.

The Worst: (starting with the worst)
1- The Apollo – Earthforce (5.3)
Another missile boat, but I think you can easily argue that this one is under gunned for a Battle level choice.
2- The Bokados – Brakiri (5.7)
A carrier with bad fighters, this one may also belong in the dregs.
3- The Hyperion CC – Earthforce (5.8)
A bit under defended, but I may get some complaints on this one.
4- The Cruiser – Drakh (6.4)
It is interesting to see this one way down here with the carrier being up at the top. This is a testament to the attack rating of the Drakh Heavy Raider.
5- The Nova – Raider (8.1)
They may call it a Dreadnaught, but it is really a battle carrier with poor fighters.

For the record the Whitestar 2 comes in 9th with a 16.1. There is a cluster of ships in the low 16’s, so 9th becomes a little arbitrary (especially with the WS2’s high maneuverability).

And the human element...

BEST:

1). Centauri Tertius
2). Minbari Tinashi
3). Centauri Primus
4). Brakiri Kaliva
5). Minbari Veshantan

Honorable Mentions: Drazi Stormfalcon, WhiteStar-2, EA Marathon.

WORST:

1). EA Command Hyperion
2). Brakiri Avioki
3). Drakh Carrier
4). Dilgar Wahant
5). Raider Supernova

Dishonorable mentions: G'Quan, Pulse Omega, Dilgar Kahtrik, Dilgar Tikrit, Minbari Troligan (current version).

Special disorder of merit:
Carriers not included this time, as there are a special array of Carriers that really stink -- the Nightfalcon, the Garasoch, the Brokados are the top of my mental list. Even the "Good" carriers usually aren't Battle-level good -- Avenger, Balavarix, even the best of breed Morshin.

Well I would say as follows:

Best 5:

Minbari Tinashi
Centauri Tertius
EA Marathon
Vorlon Destroyer
Centauri Primus

Worst 5:

EA Command Hyperion (hyperion hulll REALLY doesnt cut it at Battle)

Raider Nova (all raider ships except for the battlewagon just suck Im afraid)

Brakkiri Brakkados (just a brick with crap fighters)

Nightfalcon (simply not worth it over smaller Drazi ships or even the other battle option :P)

Dilgar Tikrit (Essentially a bigger Tagrath but not even close to worth it over just taking 2 Tagraths!)

Now I know the maths has gone screwy!

Drakh carrier, well you can stick that one up your ass.... ;-)

Apollo undergunned? You do realize it doesn't have slow-loading unless it's crippled?

I have been pretty massacred by an Apollo, many times, in fact pretty much every time I play Karlpopli, it's his favourite ship, damn missiles.

The apollo is actually quite a good ship in my eyes. I love it personally. Back in the old combined EA list it felt a tad weak when compared to the firepower you could get out of other missile ships but that was more of a problem with the sagitarius and missile Hyperion than the apollo itself!

Putting the Whore back into the EA missle Whore fleets. It has to be one of the best fleet support ships out there.

Go on, plug the War ships theough that magic formula so we can have a good laugh.

Peronally I think that the BinTak should be in the top 2, although i have never used a G'Vrahn, It might actually pip the Bin Tak... I'm Intrigued.

Yeah, I'm expecting Sharlin (and variants), and Bin'Tak to make the grade. Though there is also Shadow Hunter and the Vorlon Light Cruiser at that level.

The Omega a number 3 spot? Really? Do the calculations take borsighted weaponry into account? Surely the need for fleet support/sinks must be a factor (don't how it'd be calculated though).

the drakh cruiser should be in the top 5. same beam front or back but rear is anti fighter too (damn annoyng for my ISA). and the beam is as good as the tinashis. plus a GEG3.

Katadder: Hull 6 at Battle level and above makes a huge difference, and the Dilgar Cruiser is one of the few without it -- the GEG 3 is a small convern compared to this major effect at Battle Level. And getting that rear beam to fire -- well, that the whole hard part against most everyone. ISA have to change what they normally do around that thing. Most others just blaze away as normal; in that sense, its a Tinashi-minus.

Nowhere near a top-5 ship.

War-level ..... I thought of 6 ships I like better than the Bin'Tak nowadays; it didn't even really make my consideration (Vorlon Light Cruiser, Shadow Hunter, Minbari Sharlin, Narn G'Vrahn, Command Omega, Pak'Ma'Ra Pu'Shul'Shi were on my list...)

the drakh cruiser has the surviveability of a kitten on the motorway, far to fragile, the geg help against fighters and secondaries, thats it, Hull 5 against anyone with a beam, and it's goodnight vienna

would prefer a GEG3 to a stealth 4 tinashi :) both same hull, but the drakh also reduces the tinashi by stealth 1 as well. then gets close and its down to stealth 2.
if the tinashi can makes some peoples top 5 then the drakh cruiser which actually has mre firepower can too.

Yeah stealth 4+ is really pointless. Mopst people will be rolling "anything but a 1" against it. Get in 8", and take your pick from any one of: be shadows, vorlons of drakh; scanners to full; scout.

I'm trying to decide if this is sarcasm, I get 25" away from said ship so i can fire my beam, wait it has stealth 4, but then I am drakh, so it's 3, rats, i rolled a 2....

this is true, but then you have to get within 8" without being blown out of the sky, sadly, the last minbari drakh game I had, I got blown out of the sky :-(
stupid 1's versus stealth. I once rolled 7 ones in 8 attempts, thats just stupid, ggrrrr

Actually, Hiff, at Range 25 it's stealth 5.

I don't get this Stealth is nothing stuff. At absolute worst, 1/6 of all firepower misses outright. Last I checked, that was kind of important.

Never mind the silly man in Chicago.
