Hello All,

I'm a new Traveller ref, and I wondered if there were any scenarios people could recommend to me that conform to the following requirements:

4-6 players
4 hours in duration
Will be played with pre generated characters.
A one off, not to be continued.
To be played at a small, private "con".

A group of 4 players and myself, using pregen characters played "Fair Game" which appeared in Signs and Portents Issue 59. We all really enjoyed, and it ran to about 4 hours. Something similar would be great. I've looked at "The Rescue" in Signs and Portents, this could be viable.

I don't mind making up stats for NPCs etc, a good storyline and choices for the players is essential though.

Thanks

I ran a similar type of game two days ago. It went great for me. I just used a simple plot: players are trying to smuggle in illegal cargo with the cover of shipping in legal cargo as well. I gave them two unifying things: they're all part owners of the ship and they all hate the chief law enforcement officer on the planet (for different reasons).

I threw in a complication that their contact got picked up by law enforcement officials before they could sell him their goods but before he could talk about who exactly he's meeting. I had them meet up with someone else from the orginization they were selling to conclude the deal.

At this point, I was running short on time and picked a fight so we could test out the combat system and ended up with the players getting away.

A one-off setting like that is a great opportunity to try an open-ended game style. That sort of thing is difficult to pull off in an ongoign campaign where you wnt to maintain some continutuity, but in a on-off you don't need to worry about the end-point of the game so much, just set up the characters with a load of toys to play with and a set of goals and let them loose.

I ran a version of the Rescue last weekend. It ran about 5 hrs. but the PCs got sidetracked and paranoid. They bought into some of the paranoia of the citizens and a few subtly confusing issues I put in their way and thought they were under attack by pirates or some other source. The only player that complained about the scenario wanted more combat action and things to shoot (I think he was disappointed the pirates weren't really there), the rest had a blast. There are several fairly simple subplots to give the characters enough free choices on what to do.

I did Divine Intervention from CT, and provided a choice from 10 pregenerated characters.

Anyone wanting my conversion notes, pregen characters, GM cheet sheets etc. can email me at albiegamer (at) gmail (dot) com.

Sorry, I can't give you the entire adventure as it is copyrighted by GDW/Marc Miller.

I'm probably too late to this party, but for a convention adventure I cannot recommend enough One Crowded Hour from Avenger Enterprises. It is perfect for a convention one shot or a demo game.
