I'm fascinated by the concept of Stygian Barbarians (found it in Hyboria's fiercest p.33-34, and Stygia p.23-24).
I like the description in "Stygia, Serpent of the South": "They are the dusky skinned wanderers who took this land from the Giant-Kings, but who refused to settle in cities of stone, preferring the dunes and sands of the land to a sedentary life".
I would like to know whether the idea of Stygian Barbarians came from the Red Nails'Tlazitlans or from any other source, or whether those paragraphs in Stygia and Hyboria's Fiercest are just Vincent's creations.
I know that "Tlazitlans exemplify Stygian barbarians" but Tlazitlans are not pure Stygian but "partly Stygian in origin, but some of
their ancestors were of one or other of the Eastern races,
perhaps Hyrkanians or Kosalans."
Consequently I came to the idea of Stygian Barbarians other than the Tlazitlans, more pure-blooded, and descended from the first wave of colonists who beated the Giant-Kings.
If I get time I'm interested in deveolping the concept (using Herodotus and the Egyptian sources on Savage Libyans), do you have any suggestion?
