With our plans covered for RPGs and miniatures games in 2007, it is now time for us to have a look at the various ancillary projects we have going on. As it turns out, there are some quite exciting things here too. . .

Babylon 5 Novels
There has been a lot of talk about the forthcoming range of Babylon 5 novels. However, I can now reveal that we have been engaged in talks with Mr Straczynski, and the entire range will now be approved by him – right down to every word, comma and technical detail. We will be launching with a Rangers series and a trilogy covering the activities of Susan Ivanova beyond season four, with the first books appearing in November, ready for the release of the Lost Tales DVD in the UK. We are hoping to reach an agreement for distribution into the US the following year.

The Anla’Shok Archives
If you cannot wait for officially approved novels, how about an officially approved encyclopaedia series? The Anla’Shok Archives will feature a comprehensive coverage of the Babylon 5 universe, from the Earth-Minbari War to the innermost workings of the Kha’Ri. Each volume will come with an original print from the very best of Babylon 5 artists, and anyone who collects them all will receive, free of charge, a replica of Valen’s Denn’Bok, as presented to him after the Shadow War one thousand years before the main Babylon 5 timeline. This is an extremely high quality collector’s item, only available to those who make a thorough study of the Anla’Shok Archives – it will not be available anywhere else.

Lone Wolf
2007 is where everything begins to happen for fans of Lone Wolf. There are several people in Mongoose (myself included) who were introduced to RPGs via the original Lone Wolf gamebooks, and the chance to bring something back to Magnamund has got us very excited. So, what can you expect? Well, throughout 2007, you will see;

* The re-release of the original Lone Wolf gamebooks – however, all of these will have added material with all new artwork, and Flight From the Dark is currently being re-written by Mr Dever to create a kind of ‘Director’s Cut’. Now, you will have to fight your way out of the monastery as the Dark Lords attack!

* A new range of gamebooks, featuring Banedon as the central character, fully tying in with Lone Wolf’s own adventures across Magnamund.

* A new range of novels, covering the latest events to shake Magnamund, as directed by Mr Dever. A ripping read, two trilogies are already planned.

* We saved the best until last. . . Mr Dever is about to commence work on gamebooks 29-32, finally rounding off the epic tale that was started so many years ago. Quite how the tale ends, we do not know yet, but we are waiting with breath as bated as yours!

I'm kind of disappointed that the B5 novels will not appear until this time next year, especially since they were originally promised for this time last year.

Still, there is plenty of other stuff coming out to keep me interested.

I'm just happy that the issue with JMS appears to have been resolved. The fact that the books will now be approved by JMS is a huge thing, to many fans that would perhaps only pick up a B5 novel in those circumstances.

Chobbly.

Agree. nothing to be gained from verbal matches with the creator of the property...and if he gives his blessing, even better.

Yeah. Mongoose went through the JMS Cycle. It starts with the mistake of thinking that getting a license from WB equals being official and cannon. WB has been known to foster this. When JMS hears you claiming to be cannon, without first running it by him, he throws a fit. Once he calms down, if you approach him and explain the misunderstanding, he'll usually work with you.

Having read Visions of Peace, there may be a delay while he tries to make that thing cannon.

Matt mentioned the ANlashok archive at MoW but nothing of Denn'boks.

I really need to look into getting some quarterstaff training!

A Denn'Bok with the Anla'Shok Archives, the Sommerswerd if you buy the full LW series... Mongoose is taking this whole 'rewards for loyal customers' thing seriously!
I wonder what they'd give away if they relaunched the 'Macho Women With Guns' line... :D

SOLD!!!!!!

Damm! He beat me to it as usual! Oh well - make that two complete Archives sold anyway! :D

If JMS needs to make changes to the Visions of Peace novel will that make my signed copy even more of a collectors item?

Yep. For me out of all 3 threads this was THE biggest "wohoo!" news.

Maybe we can eventually get full story of crusade told out in novels as canon? Here's hoping...

(I always wished JMS would have started to just write the scripts for crusade serie and sell them like he's selling original B5 scripts. I would just have loved to get my hands on those).

There is talk on www.babylon5scripts.com of the Crusade scripts being released after the B5 ones are finished.

The ones that got finished or is JMS seriously thinking about writing scripts for the whole crusade and selling those? That's what I was talking about...JMS writing rest of season 1 and all the seasons he had in mind(I assume he had similar overall plan as he had with B5) and sell them.

I'm not talking about publishing published crusade episode scripts. I want to be able to read how crusade serie would have gone as JMS had seen it

How will these new Lone Wolf Novels connect with the original novels? (no, not the gamebooks)? Are there plans to reprint those?

JMS can't write scripts and sell them for Crusade as he doesn't own the show or have rights to it.

As lastbesthope said, there are plans to publish the televised scripts and (I believe) the unproduced scripts after the fourteen volume set of B5 scripts is completed. When asked, he's said that he'll what his plans for the series were in those books.
