Unless you can pick them up cheap, don't bother with 1st edition books. There are many unchanged things, but enough that it can be more than a minor annoyance to have to do the conversions.

Would you say the same about 2300 AD although it sounds like a new edition of that is quite far off?

For 2300AD, or any of the previous materials, I'd suggest purchasing the DVD from Far Future's website. It's a HUGE value over buying the pieces individually in digital format.

There are some interesting things in 2300AD, but you'd have to ask someone else if the re-release is a duplicate of the original, or if there are major modifications. The first edition of MGT was basically CT, with a few rules tweaks. So you gotta judge for yourself it it's worth investing in the new version or not.

I actually have almost all of those CDs.

I do have 2300AD CD but I was not sure if the Mongoose 2300AD changed much. I'll look around and see how things go with finding a group, the Mongoose release dates, etc.
