[SST] MI Reliant Emplacements

Hi.. I'm new to the game (hope I don't have to re-learn to much when the new version comes out soon) and have run into a few snags, and here is the first:

When I get a Reliant Emplacement does it come with the two troopers that some with the physical set? I haven't been able to figure this out by reading the rules...

If it does I have a few more questions:
1) what are their stats/weapons if any?
2) If they are a unit of two who is their unit commander, or are they just "single" models?

Also, the emplacement has the front arc of fire, but is it possible to move it all? Not just the direction it faces, but perhaps around the battle field?

You only get the emplacement, the crew comes from one of your squads. They keep whatever weapons they were given when you bought the squad and remain part of their squad for command purposes. The Reliant can't move once it has been deployed at the start of the game.

So to use the reliant emplacment you have to have a whole squad chilling around it? I guess that makes sense...

Also... what then is the "point" of the models that came with the reliant box set, for fluff?

No, the squad doesn't chill, they can still fire during the shoot action. The models are there to give you more options. Say you want to better represent that the Reliants are manned. Just swap out the guys firing with those models.

Ah, I should have been more specific with my vernacular. By "chilling out" I meant the whole unit would have to be around the emplacement, versus being able to leave two guys behind to man it.

I think maybe the reason I was having issues with this is that when I've played I've taken maxed out units and had the three emplacemnts really far apart on on top of something that only two guys could be on. I guess it makes sense for troopers part of a unit to be able to man it, I guess maybe I just need to have more in one place, (ao a unit of eight guys could be firing three or two guns instead of six guys hanigng around while it shoots) not take so many people in a sqaud (have a minimum squad to man the gun), or do some light conversion to the models that come with the emplacements so I can feel better about them running around the battle field away from the emplacements.

I follow you know. Remember that the command range is a 6" radius, so you can still spread your troops out fairly well around the platforms. Perhaps consider making sure the reliants are no more than 12" apart, so you can man two platforms at the same time. Just make sure you spend the points to get a Corporal then, as your platforms will be susceptible to being out of command if you lose the Sergeant.

If I'm using them I tend to add two to the squad and have the Sgt, Cpl and two Javelin armed troopers as cover. That way most of the squad can still target a large proportion of the board, terrain permitting. Works best if the MI are on deep defence.
