SST Evo

Vegabond

Mongoose
So when this game launches are we going to see a change in the point values of units? Will Squad make-up be any different than they are now? What about weapon damages and ranges? Will they change?

From what I can read of the USMC card they don't have piercing or any other common SST trait (which they shouldn't, just making an observation). Will SST EVO still have the same weapon and character traits or will they be going away / modified?

If you look in the thread "Have Rules, No Stats" in the BF:Evo section, the three cards that were in Signs and Portents were "translated". Going from those cards, I suspect that they still have those traits, but it will be worked the descriptions of the various different weapons. This means that instead of having to reference the rulebook to find out what something means, it will all be explained right on the card.

And when you study new unit rather than quickly glancing through few trait words you have to read through small novel...

Yepp, that's why I will do my own Unit Cards - with traits.

btw: do they really want to explain how hover or jump works on each capable unit's card?

The game is still four months from release, and everyone is already complaining and proposing "improvments" for the cards that we still have yet to see. That makes a whole lot of sense.

As mr.Evil said.

When MGP opened its doors to the public to try it out, the skinnies had changed especially.

So yes, Some and some.

Oh please. . .

After you've been playing the game a month or two, all you'll have to do is glance at a card and just from a couple words, pick up what the "trait" is.

But the full rules text is also there in case there's a question on the details of exactly how a rule work!

I can't believe that there are gamers who are complaining about having to read something a couple times until they are fully familiar with it!!!

Can anyone say anything about how the skinnies have changed?

I didn't like how they were being handled, too much like a kid's cartoon with impractical units.

Acually, they make me think of one of the original ideas for the Orks in 40k. Kind of impractical for a race that is supposed to span at least a dozen star systems, but it does allow for a great deal of variety.

We have seen cards for BF:Evo though. No reason to expect SST:evo cards say same thing in any shorter lenght...

But it takes longer than just skimming through each trait. Now you have to skip lots of redundant text to find out wether weapon is piercing/1 or piercing /2 for example.

And you can be familiar with the game and know traits inside out but when new army is released with this system learning the invidual army is going to take out longer since you have to read, again needlessly, HOW the traits works rather than just WHAT traits weapon has precisely.

Helpfull for newbies? Yes. Slowing veterans? Yes.

how? before you know the rules by heart you have to check the rules in book anyway, and it takes less time to read the card description that open the book, look for the page with the rule, and then read it. after that you'r going to know the basic rules by heart anyway, and the more esoteric rules you'l have to check will be on the card instead of the book. so,what's the difference? and since you'll have to chceck the card in the first games anyway, since the rules are(to my understanduing)slightly different anyway, so your old knowledge of the rules will be only generally helpful.

tneva82;

bullshit.
After reading a rule on the card you'll memorise it and then next time if you have to read it you'll remember the text and after few words you'll know which rule is it.
And really finding -1 or -2 in a text ain't a problem.

Ummmm. . . no. It would take 1/2 second or less to find -1 vs. -2 in a block of text.

There's a lot of pointless bitching on a lot of forums. . . I'd have to say this is probably right up towards the top of somebody trying hard to find something to bitch about.
