So an email went round.

Armageddon level competition it said.
No jump points, lowest priority allowed will be Battle.

and I looked at my Vree.
And then I looked at what I was likely to come up against.
and I rubbed my hands and thought 'Ok, its going to take some first rate moves to pull this off but I can win this.'

I turned up wondering who my first opponent was going to be only to be confronted with one big table.

huh?

its not a knockout competition?

oh dear god..... beam me up scotty.

And so my trusty Vree went into the fray on a table full of Armageddon level ships.

ok. I can deal with this, I can skulk around on a table edge and lob in the odd torpedo if they get too close.

and then the EA player spotted me......... time for a tactical withdrawal (read: all power to engines and run awaaaaaaaaay!)
my withdrawal was so tactical I went into an asteroid field. and through it.
and out the other side. only I forgot the Minbari go as fast as I do.........

ok, concentrate all fire and I might just get away with this..... @#'@* stealth!

and so I got my arse handed to me.
As a consolation I lobbed a torpedo at a third age ship and killed it, but the Minbari player ran away with the game after killing all three of my ships. (and pretty much everyone else on the table)

had it been the competition I thought it was - round robin/knock out I think I could have been in the top three and possibly won it. As it was, one big table full of armageddon level ships and no room to move leaves my Vree very vulnerable. :(

Oh dear god! I had assumed it was knockout as well when we were talking about fleets before!

If your facing LOTS of ships on the table I can see the Vree having exploded rather more rapidly :P

You went through an asteriod field with the pedal to the metal with flimsy Vree ships? you should have won the "gutsiest move in the game" award 8)

well my War level did take some damage going through the field, the two Battle didnt though.

just really frustrating to miss the fact that it wasnt a knock out competition - On a table like that I would have either put out an Adira or an Octurian and two Primus, slowed right down and chucked a ton of beams at anyone coming close.

oh well. theres always next time.

Rather a shame. In a one-on-one fight I really think you could have done very well.

Vree can make mincemeat of minbari - but that's when they have the oh-so-fantastic Vaarl scout to suppress the '@#'@* stealth' and go 'tag! You're it!' and then cheap torp saucer squadrons to bomb the boneheads back into the last shadow war. When there's multiple fleets on the table at once you can't go hidey-hidey dodgey-dodgey very well, and being the most fragile fleet out there means you're an obvious target to go for for three 'easy' kills.
