Some General ACTA questions

Im still learning the game rules and just want some clarification on some things.

CAF and Twin-link do not stack correct? So a ship with only 4 twin-linked weapons should never use CAF since it is wasted on them correct?

If I recall correctly a roll of one is always a miss correct? So if a Super AP weapon is firing at a Hull 3 ship it still needs to get 2+ right?

I have a basic understanding of interceptors but I would like some verification that Im using them correctly. They stop all regular weapons fire correct (not Beam or E-Mine or Jump Gate or Ship explosion)? and if the a ship is hit six times and you roll 2+s for every shot then on the next hit you would need 3+ but your rolled all 2s or 1s that shot would hit the ship but then for shot 3-6 you would still get one 6+ roll per hit or is that on volleys after that one? Meaning do shots 3-6 automatically hit but if another ship fires the target ship will get its 6+ Interceptor roll.

And finally its seems to me (granted I havent seen all the ships yet and I dont have SFoS or Arma. yet) but is the ISA the only fleet with a 10" anti-fighter weapon? All the other ships seem to be around 5" and almost all the EA ships anti-fighter weapons are weak...even though they are called the exact same gun on all of the different ships, even the ones that dont have the weak status. Now my understanding is the Liati is pretty much all Anti-fighter weaponry so I imagine they have better range then most but I havent seen its stats yet.

oh and I just thought of another point of confusion. Fighters can use the All Power to Engines SA only if they have afterburners, correct? so does that mean when they use that SA they also use up the afterburners for that scenario as well, meaning they can only do it once per battle, or as long as they have the afterburner trait they can use it?

Correct. There is on point on using CAF with a Nova.

Yes.

You do get a 6+ roll on hits 3-6. You always get a 6+ after your inteceptors are depleted.

The Shadow scout has an 8" A-F weapon.

remember that your target number doesn't change though.
In your example, if a SAP weapon is firing at a hull 3 ship, so the target number 1+ to hit. but, a roll of one misses, so a 2+ is needed.
if the SAP weapon is a Beam, and hits the first time, then it can hit again, with +1 increase to the target number. so the 3 Hull becomes a 1+ to hit, and a 2+ on the second roll, a 3+ on the third roll, etc. SThis results in effective "to hit" numbers of 2+, 2+, 3+, and on.

Well, with the nova there could be a reason to CAF- you are going beam rather then twin linked.

Inside 8 inchs, the beams might do more damage... particularly if you have a scout nearby giving free rerolls with one weapon system, or you only have one target.

===

Amusingly enough, Wednesday my nova was inside 8 inches to a battle level LONAW ship, side arc and 12 inchs to the rear was a raid with 2-3 damage points left. With two scouts, I moved them first for the lock ons, one per ship.

Nova would have CAF'd on; but since both scouts granted rerolls, the nova went beam on the battle and twinlinked on the raid (range issues).

I love my novas... :wink:
