I'm aware that this are not Mongoose items but I have found some of these downloads very helpful for fleshing out things in a less high magic kind of way and more in a Hyborian means. For places like say Nemedia, Aquilonia and other medieval type areas they might give some good ideas. the link contains articles on settings and adventures.
