Mongoose
i keep reading about a 2nd edtion of call to arms is this true? if so how long till it comes out you think? is it worth geting in to the game at this point?

I hope it's still worth getting into at this point :( .

I just purchased the Revised Box, Sky Full of Stars, the SFoS counter sheet, Armageddon, Gale Force 9 Action tokens, Gale Force 9 firing arc template and the Targeting tokens.

Now I plan on converting my small miniature group over to A Call to Arms once I have had a chance to read through it, and it would suck if 2nd made all this worthless  .

Here's to hoping that the money spent was worth it,

Aric

I currently game at my house, but I am close to Valhalla's Game Center. I live near 72nd & Federal so most of the denver stores are relatively close.

How about you?

From what I gather , Mongoose will be putting out a @nd edition of A Call To Arms, sometime in late 2007. I recall reading it will be 1 Rule book, 1 fleet book, and new counters. No idea if it'll be a box or separate. There will be 3 new races, the Pak ma ra, Psi-force and another I don't recall. It'll combine all of the current rule books into one.

As to if it's worth picking up or waiting, that's always dependant on different factors. Personally I think it's worth picking up at least the box set at this point. From what I've read not much will be changing, just things getting corrected, updated and streamilined.

Bang on the money here!

You're still going to get one year under the current rules set so for my money that's easily long enough to play the game and decide if you enjoy it or not and get loads of games in. It's true about £60 worth of books will only last one year and that means if you're in a tight financial situation then that may be an influence. Rest assured, any change is not happening for quite a while yet.

Corrections, updates, and streamlines? What honest, money-making gaming company does that sort of thing to its players? I mean, really now.

It's much more than that! It'll retain the same game mechanics as before but with [every] aspect of the game reviewed and improved if possible. It's a rethink from almost the ground up rather than tweaking things on top of the current set of rules and ships.

Sorry, I forgot to add my /sarcasm tags. I was kidding around, man.
