It's not the models so much as the heads, for me. In the army book artwork, they look kind of like the Predator - But the vertically extension of the helmet makes it look...nerdy.

Nice pix Chris. Even nicer in person! I saw them in action a bit this afternoon while my Bigs were getting their arses kicked by some Exos on another table.

Nice job, Chris. I really like the metal0look, but then some already know that. It will be interesting to see what comes out in the PPMs on the topic of Skinnies.

Nice work! I've always been a big fan of the skinnies, despite the model disputes. Aliens are always more interesting than humans!

I'm hoping they come out with another alien army with infantry soon after release. My group really doesn't like how the skinnies look, even though a few do like the rules for them.

I wonder if the upcoming Coven will be anything like the Covenant from Halo. :P

You really think Evo will survive beyond the initial four factions being released?

Speaking of Halo... WizKids Halo ActionClix baby! Warthogs and all! w00t!

(sorry Chris for hijacking this thread momentarily... now back to praising the awesome paint job!!)

As to whether it will survive? Who knows? No one really knows if it will as the whole prepainted minis and evolution rules set is mostly untested. There are similar games, namely the method that Mongoose is using is similar to the Heroscape board/minis game marketing method, and that's been very successful even in the casual gaming market.

Also, there were rumors that the Coven, or some other 5th army, would be coming out sooner rather than wait for the usual 4 armies at every new release. The thinking was that skinnies aren't too popular and they can't make too many changes since the look is established (based on a cartoon kids show, of which the in house artists didn't like the skinnies), so a 5th army would be the real alternative for those who might want an infantry army, but not like human MI, or the weirdness of skinnies.

Sad to say, about the above minis, I don't like that that much. Too shiny. Maybe a coat of matt varnish, then some brush on gloss on the area where you want shinyness will help.
